Hey thanks Fabroman. Yeah I was wondering about if a long hose would lose pressure (an after thought of course). The brake caliper is actually going to be on the other side of the rear of the kart (well maybe I'll have to see how much room is on that side of the axle after the sprocket and bearings are placed) so I don't know if a long rod would work. I hope the hose will work. Bigger brake fluid reservior maybe??? I can run the hose in a way that it will be well protected. Cheers

I've been slowly doing some work on the project while I'm waiting for some stuff for the rear suspension to come in. I built a cage under the seat not only for protection but it also strenghtens up the whole frame a lot. I'm going to use all new (well recycled) sheet metal to cover the whole bottom and the sides up to the existing main frame. I found a way to use the stock Oddy skid pan to protect the tie rods and pitman arm completely. I turned it around backwards and welded some support struts inside that lock onto and also bolt to (for easy removale if needed) the metal uprights I welded to the front of the frame.

Thanks landuse, it's looking like a pile to me right now but it should be a lot better looking when I get the sheet metal on covering all that stuff and paint when I'm done :D.

Good progress! To weigh in on the long brake hose/lost pressure thing: You won't "lose pressure" per se with a long brake hose. But the tendency for the hose to expand under pressure results in what equates to an inefficiency- not all the pressure developed at the master translates into fluid flow at the slave. It does manifest itself in a pressure loss at the slave, but it's not the kind of pressure loss you would expect created by a restriction (if that makes any sense to you). Long story short, use as much hard tubing as you can, keeping hose to a minimum, and your brakes will operate at peak efficiency. If you are using a floating caliper, you must use at least a short length of hose at the caliper.

That's what I was getting at, I was dumbing it down for the noobs

Ok thanks guys, I did get a long length of hard plastic brake tubing from BMI a while ago but I wasn't sure if it was going to be strong enough. Good to know I can use it now. Thank again .

Wow. Thats looking killer man. You will be able to mosh over anything you like.

I am back from fighting forrest fires for a week. If I can get this smoke smell off me I will get your parts sent out in a few days.

Hey thanks bighead, like I said on the phone glad your back from the fires and you are ok. Let me know when you ship that stuff and that should give me some inspiration to get back to work on this thing:D! Don't really need the parts to continue on the rear, just been busy with another side project.
