i once try'd to get my hands on a coin operated truck just for the fiberglass body...... way too expensive

Can you really carry those axles across the garage with no help? From your past post I think you will way way off on the final Lbs.

I have a lot of questions but not an expert fabricator. I'll sit on the fence and watch this one.

i bought a flat bed for one of my trucks from a friend of mine and he just gave me the vette body with the bed, im NOT a chevy guy at all but it was just too cool to pass up on and besides this thing has a lot of ford parts in it anyway. with the bed.

i don't really know for the weight of the rig. but yea the axles aren't as heavy as they look but im starting to second guess my original weight prediction, but we'll see i guess . ill take it down and weigh it when its all done and over.

i dont give a **** if it works
it looks sick

try and get a 30hp deisel engine and turbo that
thatll set the power about right

just starting a deisel fitter apprentaship im getting use to not predicting weight by size as it is often wrong

? no load produces more boost now? when did that change? i feel like you need to reevaluate this entire paragraph. your correct about the oiling but not about basically everyhting else

Have a re-read. the exhaust gases will be spinning/spooling the turbine, it wont be creating any boost, just passing the turbine causing it to spin, I cant see it being even remotely possible that it can make boost, but if it does, it would be allready at a high rpm under load.

Other than that what else it wrong with how I've worded things? You need a decent amount of exhaust gas moving at a high enough rate for a turbo to create boost. As I was saying I'd be shocked if that engine could accomplish that but I'm maybe wrong, and if it does, it would imo cause havoc with the internals, an thats without even thinking of det/knocking.

There are different Turbo`s out there , there is a high chance this one will produce Boost being he said it was a Turbo from a diesel engine , diesel engines spool their Turbo`s at a lower rpm around 2500 Rpm , they are designed for a diesels low rpm range , where as a gas engine Turbo spools at a high Rpm , >> so this setup might just surprise us all ...:cheers2:

thanks, i originally was looking for a diesel but didn't find any in a reasonable price range , one of my friends just scrapped a bunch of diesel generators all with 36 hp diesels that ran fine , he scrapped maybe 20 of them but i didn't have anything to put them on at the time:mad2:.

well i managed to get some work done today . got the bottom links for the two link mounted and all the brackets cut and drilled for the two link and shock mounts but they're only tacked up until i make a couple more brackets to hold it all. the motor is mounted up and after test running the engine a little today i decided the turbo was more work than it was worth so i took it off . with the turbo gone i will have extra room to mount a decent sized battery and with this thing suckin down gas like it does i may need a 5 or so gallon tank to feed it.

there's a guy in the next town over who builds motors for race carts . im thinkin of talkin to him about squeezin a little more out of the motor but i guess we'll see.

anyhow heres some pics of todays progress

two link mounts

n/a motor mounted in the cart, if anyone noticed from the last engine pics i turned the engine 180* so it would be on the right side for better weight distribution.

and heres one of my buddies cart , after they put the big tires on it (22's) it has absolutely no low end power but we think it might float now, probly gonna test it tomarrow bein as the river is flooded down this way right now.

man... you just took kart building to a whole other level if this works... haha!

Looking good so far!

Only thing I can see as being a downfall is the power of the engine not being enough to turn both of those giant axles at once.

i did it on my kart

the front suspension is too solid so it was always at full extension with made driving on corrogated roads a deadly game with no steering

so i wired a car battery onto the front to add weight and now it is all good
