:iagree:, ford is the only way . the chevy body was free incase your wonderin why i used it. keep in mind the 44" dualies will only be on it when playing in bodies of water. just gonna run the set of four normally . still i know the motor will need some help to turn them but believe it or not the skid steer tires are heavier than the 44's . i know of a builder that claims he can make 85 hp out of my little briggs so i might go that route but im gonna see how she does first.

the reduction through the entire drivetrain is 90:1 in forward low gear , 44:1 in forward hi gear and i didn't check reverse as reverse is normally the lowest gear . the axles will hold the tires fine just because the lack of power and weight that it would take to break them ..... now if it were on a truck with 44"s them axles would be toast.

theres a lot of trails and creeks by my house i will probly be taking it to test it and play now and again. but anyhow heres some pics bein as my internet is workin properly now:D

made a new steering column support and crossmember

the rear drive shaft installed

and some with the new rubber

well the steering is more than likely going to have to be fully hydraulic, but i put the setup that is on there now (2:1 reduction box) just to see . on this light of a rig i figure i may be able to get away with this setup and that would save me a lot of fab work and wouldn't drag the motor down at all cuz it won't need a pump . but ill see when i take it out the first time . progress is gonna be a little slow this week as our shop is right on the mississippi and our shop is sandbag central right now. and i just bought a house so there will be a lot of moving soon.

im gonna try to setup the panel for all the wiring tomarrow im thinkin on mounting it below the steering wheel but am open to suggestions for a better location.

I have not really followed this build. But I see a sprocket in one of your pics. Will you be useing a chain? If so, Will a chain hold up to all that weight? How many lbs you think this build is?

I want to say that is does not even move 5 feet. But I am not qualified skill wise to bet on it. Best of luck friend.

im gonna try the sprocket that i put on it which i think is #41? im not sure ill have to check for sure. if it doesn't hold i have some #61 chain that i know will hold ,#61 is the same sized chain i use on the 20,000 lb winch in my mudtruck and i have had that thing under some serious pressure with no failures .

im still not sure on the weight yet im just gonna weigh it when its done .

depends which 7.3 your talkin about. powerstrokes are garbage in my opinion, the 7.3 idi's are what i run (88-94 ford trucks had them) . much more reliable , all mechanically controlled . my daily driver has the 7.3 idi and i built my own wastegated sidemount turbo system for it and cranked the ip and even bein on 38" swampers itl eat up powerstrokes ,duramax, and cummins and im still gettin better milage than them (20 mpg intown , 25.5 highway). and the parts are a lot cheaper . also never had to plug it in during winter time and we get some nasty winter weather here sometimes -30 below with windchill.

Yep I learnt to drive in a 1994 Ford with the 7.3 idi, I was alot of fun, especiall since I live out on the farm and not far from the highway...left alot of blackies out on there.

pretty crazy... we have kinda the same thing going on here in Wisconsin right now...except its another blizzard. 6 to 10 inches tonight with flood warning for tomorrow night because it is april after all and it will all melt right away.....just thought id say, this is an awesome project, and I have faith in that little 18 horse engine....it just wont go very fast...

good luck up your way with the snow and flood , were used to it after being down this way for so many years but it gets old really fast . thanks i got faith in the little briggs aswell but going fast isn't my goal with this rig , atleast not right away . maybe once all the bugs are worked out ill consider a engine swap or send my other 18 hp briggs to get some serious go fast parts:sifone:

i think the 7.3 im talkin about was idi the 7.3 powerstrokes have only 250hp (although tons of torque like all diesels) my moms minivan has 288hp so thats kinda sad

the powerstrokes make more hp than idi's do my idi stock ( before i turbo'd it and cranked the ip ) is only rated for 185 hp , but 400 ft lbs of torque.

thanks i will be sure to post that video up asap when this thing is done. i got some of the wiring done today and put the switch panel over by the shifter . it now fires up by the turn of a key:thumbsup:

I'm assuming that drag link is just for testing, until you figure out your final steering arrangement? Too many lifted rigs suffer from absolutely disgusting drag links. Given the fact that this is a low speed toy, you can get away with a lot more without risking your neck, but I'd still clean that up a bit.

What an absolutely killer kart/buggy/rig thingy!
