Motorized Scooter Build w/ 6.0HP Tecumseh

Hey guys.
I'm putting a Tecumseh 6.0HP engine on a mongoose off-road scooter. The engine is going to have a 10T centrifugal clutch. I wanted to know what size sprocket to use on the rear tire. The tire is 12" in diameter. It weighs about 15LBS. The rider weighs about 130LBS. The engine weighs about 45-55LBS. Total it's going to weigh around 250LBS. (yes i know that is 50LBS more than if you add everything up, im going to have a backpack on.)

72 tooth driven will be fine.
6hp is 6 times more power than you need. Vehicle will probably tear itself apart.

If 6HP is 6x more than i need couldn't i use a smaller tooth/diameter sprocket. because that gives me a 7:1 ratio and i think that is really low,right? couldn't i gear higher like a 4 or 5:1

Could but I don't think it'll make much difference.

I have exact the same little scooter. I am looking forwards for more progress of this build.

I think 6hp is waaaaaaaay too much for this little scooter. I wouldn't suggest to use that.... A weedeater engine would fit in there much better.

A weed eater engine would fit better, but with a 6HP i dont have to worry about going up any hills or inclines that a weed eater couldnt handle. plus with the 6HP i dont have to mix gas

Alright, you got a fair point there. However, try to get somehing like 2hp, you'll be much happier with that, rather than with a 6hp engine. IMO.

i would get Harbor Freight's 99cc engine but i already had the 6HP

also im confused of why i would be happier please explain to me it seems "the more power the better"

That 6hp will be quite heavy, compared to the 2hp engine. The scooter isn't designed for all that torque from a 6hp engine + I think you'll be pulling wheelies all the way if you open throttle a little bit.
That's just my opinion about this. Lets see what other members think about this.

well im not really worried about the scooter, as Fabroman says nothing is impossible to fix with enough time,money, and patience, so i can fix the frame if something happens from all the torque but thats another good thing about all the torque, i only have to open the throttle a little to get going than open it as much as i want once i get up to speed

what if your on the scooter then it decides to break? that would be alittle dangerous. if your worried about wheelies then just have to put on a tiny wheelie bar and it will be all good. doesnt have to be all that big

as for it breaking while im on it, thats the fun part,IMO

it would also have to be a removable wheelie bar because i plan to do a little off roading with it, nothing major just kinda some dirt thats off the road

by the way im going to go with a 5:1 ratio for the tire. if anyone thinks thats too high or too low let me know

with the weight i think it will be fine. im running 5.8:1 on my mini bike with a 6.5 and it is heavier thene the scooter is going to be and im still able to pop wheelies. also if my post helps my previous one there is a thank button you can hit

yea i dont think i will want to pop wheelies on a scooter because it has a really high center of gravity so once i get it off the ground im pretty much laying on the ground

well thats the use of a wheelie bar. you could use quick release pins. and have them lock into place by having a grove that the bolts slide into

could you explain that concept more it sounds like a good idea(the quick release not the wheelie bar)
