How hard is it to do? I never made a cart before is this to much to start with? I want a super fast cart with lots of torque and high end power. What do you guys think?

Have you ever driven a kart before? Lots of folks build with m/c engines. Just make darn sure your brakes are functional before you go out for a test ride! You laugh, but I'm serious! :-D

I have driven smaller carts, but i race ATV's, even though this is completely different I have some experiance :D. What easier to use when building, a motorcycle engine like a gsxr 600 or a snowmobile engine??

Too big. It will have too much power, you will just shred the tyres (if that's what you want to do, then go for it!). Anything over about 250cc is complete overkill on a light road kart IMHO.

Look for "gixxerkart" on youtube if you want an idea of what that will be like. Great if you have a sponsor for tires!

Whats a good sized engine that will accelerate extremely fast and will hit about 80 or more, with out breaking the bank

2 stroke 250 from a dirt bike should hit 80 easily and have good acceleration. kinda pricey though unless you find a parts bike or an older engine

Actually, that GS750 would be able to hit WAY over 80 (depending on gearing of course), and it wouldn't be all that much more difficult to set up than a 250 - just bigger. It would be a tire frying machine, though!

on the bike i posted, you think there is a radiator on that? I mean it was a big engine and for only 150, you cant beat it, plus i mihgt be able to get some other parts off of that bike. Maybe use the frame and make a bike out of it with a smaller motor

Build the frame out of 1 1/4" place the engine behind the seat and make the frame longer. It will handle a lot better at high speeds if the frame is longer.

Ya I was going to make an extended frame, I was hoping to find a already built cart with out the engine and if i had to extend the frame.

would a motorcycle powered go kart need an ecu?

I mean... so many of these awesome engnes from motorcycles that id love to drop in a kart... are ecu controlled in motorcycles. is there a way around the ecu? it just seems to ad complexity to a project. rather not make something complex if I don't have to.
