Motor swap kart at LS Fest

One of my friends saw this kart with an engine swap over the weekend at LS Fest in Bowling Green. Biggest motor I ever seen on a kart.

I'm sorry, but that isn't real. If it was, those back wheels would be buried in the ground under the weight and the front wheels would be pointing to the sky

I'd be very surprised if that thing drove.
Even then it'd be an absolute DEATH TRAP!!!
It is very much a bonkers idea, but it is out of the ordinary.

300 hp on a one wheel drive kart, with a clutch that can only transmit 13hp.

With that much weight it's probably not even fast. Just loads of clutch slip.

There's no doubt that many on this site could advise on improving such a build, but this car guy actually demonstrated the concept of a DIY v8 powered go kart.

Who would have ever thunk of that ?

No radiator though (?)....

The point is these are car guys looking to have some fun on pit row, and they nailed the power to weight ratio !

I was surprised to see in the video that it actually starts and runs (and barks the tires) moving forward instead of flipping backwards into a permanant wheelie.

Not practical, but just WOW in my book !

…& um, where is the chain guard?

* No, IMO they didn't "nail" the "power to weight ratio"
(a couple of little/dinky ~10 lb. 48V 1,000W motors can easily "bark" the tires on a go kart)

LS swaps are done, overdone, and beat to death to the point they're just boring anymore. Even on a go kart. I can appreciate the time and effort that was put into it, but aside from that, I can't help but to roll my eyes.
