im new to this forum and i race go carts on a dirt track, my go kart has a sealed 206 animal and i would like to know if there is any tricks to get a little more power out of these, i have lots of expierience with 2 and 4 stroke dirt bikes and i know some people set 2 strokes so they dont idle. That way they dont pull you around the corner. idk if that would help on a go kart, what do you think? What are some tricks to getting just a little bit of an edge on the power?

If your racing in a local 206 class, the rules dont allow you to change anything. For racing in other classes your first upgrades could be rejetting the carb, installing the Briggs Animal PVL ignition module and head gasket to gain both RPM and higher compression.

If any of you other guys are wondering WTF, :biggrin5:
Some race kart tracks have a class using this engine instead of the Boxstock clone class:

Yea its a good idea for a class.. i wasn't sure if this is what he is running though. The lo206 just isnt taking off though for some reason.

A couple tracks here in Arizona will be offering the local 206 class next season. But your right, they never really got all that popular. Seems like most everyone around here's running clones nowadays.

I'm pretty sure the op meant the local 206, He said it was sealed and regular Animals aren't.

its the 206 option i think, its sealed and you cant make any engine mods, i raced the 5.5 hp class 2 years ago which was also a sealed motor (called jr 2 at my track) and that year there was only about 5 206 animal karts. I got 5th in points that year out of 22 karts so i decided to move up to the animal class and this year there is like 19 206 animal karts.

So what is the benefit to having an engine that won't idle on it's own?

Probably for just a bit more of an engine-braking effect for entering the corners without having to use the brakes. When the carbs butterfly is completely closed, it would act kinda like a Jake Brake on a diesel.

Racers try all kinds of wacky things to just try and shave a 1/10 of a second off their lap times.

Ok so far no one has answered my question as to where the seals are except on the side cover. But it doesn't sound like this kid is going to know how to do any of my suggestions anyway so i needn't bother.
