Yes, that thing looks similar to a Comet-ish type of thing, why wouldn't it work?

It's off a little 2.5HP 49cc 2 stroke lol.

They can rev 7,000 stock, so shouldn't worry about the RPMs.

However, they have enough mods on these to make a good 5HP or more... lightened flywheels, full circle crankshafts, big bore kits, ported cylinders, huge pipes with expansion chambers, advanced timing keys, racing carburetors...

Blah. So it might not handle a big engine, but a small 5-7HP I'm pretty sure it can handle it (just take it easy on the throttle).

I'm looking for one to place on my scooter lol, and from what I know, that can't be a good thing (electric motors = instananeous torque)

i have one of the 90cc gy6 motors with that style tranny. tranny's are pretty solid, the rest of the vehicles they come on are sub par. some have reverse.

Main thing I dislike is they contain a gear reduction unit where the sprocket is.

It's virtually identical to the top of a X1/X2 gear reduction unit, just integrated into a CVT.

I'm thinking of getting one, choppin' that part off, and run it like that with a (obviously) smaller sprocket...

For my electric "drag bike" I'm trying to make :D

why chop it? remove the reduction gear and use a lovejoy or similar coupling to the engine/motor

Oh no, I gave him a 15 second handicap and beat him in about 30 seconds.

Heck, 3 days after he bought it, he came to me and asked me to swap out his batteries - they were already dead.

Batteries made in 2004. He bought the bike in 2009. Lol.

I dont think that converter will hold up to a 3-5 HP 4 stroke engine. When installed on a 2 stroke scooter the power is much smoother and lots of clutch slippage on a small 2 stroke. Oscar you told me my 250 motor was in the mail!:( Also I dont see a electric motor turning 2700 RPM enough to just barely stall the clutch let alone shift out.

Lol, Whats the belt width on that? Sheives symetrical or asymetrical? I need this information to give you a good baseline.

No idea :DD

Actually, the belts are about $10 each. That's why me likey. $60 for the CVT, and $10 for belts :DD

And I'm overvolting and oil cooling them at 60V, remember?

To bypass the gear reduction, I'm thinking of running a large sprocket on it instead of the 20 tooth stock (don't need gear reduction TBH)
