You got it, Devino!
I have noticed the apparent rash of spam lately. We're doing our best to deal with it, but there's a few points I'd like to make known for both the newbies and our forum veterans alike.
1)When you report a post (spam or otherwise) all the moderators get your report in the form of an email. As such, it can take some time to arrive.
2)An air-raid siren, alternated with the repeated phrase, "Spam Alert! Spam Alert!" etc, very simply doesn't happen. See point #1.
3)There are some of us users that leave our computers on 24/7, usually with a DIYGK page open, so we can check on the site whenever convenient. Therefore, when it looks like we're online, don't bet on it.
4)Spam knows no time zone. If it's 3am over here, and you just reported a fresh post advertising left-handed spoons, odds are pretty good I won't be getting there anytime soon. Conversely, at 2:00pm while I am at work, it's not gonna happen, and another mod could well be asleep in another part of the world.
5)Moderating this forum is done on a voluntary basis. It's not a "job", we don't get paid, and as much fun as it can be, it can also be a real PITA. We do what we can, when we can. We have lives outside of this, too.
Basically, it is what it is, and we do our best. We appreciate whatever patience you're willing to afford us. -Chris
