I use a bearing and a trampoline spring. I tried it without a filter, and it still bogged down. These were the mods I was considering on doing on the engine:
1: remove old pulley and put on a smaller one for more torque.
2: remove governor.
3: lawnmower flywheel? (I have one already)
4: grind the flywheel key a bit?
5: possibly run on alky.

I may be able to get a 125cc 4 stroke for free, without a flywheel. Does that sound feesable, or too much power?
My dad does not want me to. He's saying it is too much.

Depends, what kind of 125? A chinese bike engine, or something like a Honda or Kawasaki?

I personally would use the chinese bike engine in it, but definitely not a reputable brand.

I don't think I will now, as apparently the bike is pretty much fine except a flywheel. I think the bike is the pit bike type, but as it is pretty much complete, i will keep it seperately.
The bike engine would probably not work well with my belt tensioner setup, as it already has a clutch. I would end up not using my pullies, which seems a waste.
I will try and get my 2.2 horse running right, and rip out the governor, and gear it for 10-15 mph. If that doesn't work then I would maybe either find a clone, or wack the 125 in my kart, and pull the clone and ctv from that and put it on my bike.

i am making a 40mm pulley, which will give me a 10:1 ratio, and about 12mph, about as much as the little thing can handle. i tried my clone carb, and it ran ok, apart from high revs as the carb is a bit big (83cc vs 197cc). i will give the carb another clean, but i have noticed that half the bit of plastic that the float pivots on is snapped. could this be my problem?

bye bye governor i made a new side gasket from a piece of thick card, and soaked it in oil, and put it it.
The insides of this thing are soo small!!! and the rod looks soo fragile :/. it has an aluminium camshaft too.
I also attached the mudguard with some riveots. looks ok, considering getting some black paint, and painting them (when i have made the back one.)
I may buy one of these and a fake k&n after i have put the new pulley on (i am making it this week). if the engine is still not powerful enough after the gearing change, i will probably be on the look out for a briggs 5 or a gx160, but i think they have different mounting holes.

BORED!!!
i made a new pulley for the engine, turns out it needed tensioning to get the radius of the pullet right, as it was too small, so i made a tensioner, rigged it up, and had a go. the belt still slipps like crazy, and the engine still boggs badly on hills, so i think i will do it the proper way, and get a bigger engine. something in the 6hp range, probably a clone. problems solved by bigger engine:
1. slowness and crapness of torque
2. need air filter
3. lack of recoil
4. i cant drill jets so the engine is running rich
5. i can put a bigger pulley on the engine, and then have no slippage.
6. it will work
7. i can feel happy
8. i can boast
the list is endless... i am now on the hunt for a clone or a honda gx160

Edit: note to self: use chain, tav and bigger engine in future.

i am working on some guy on ebay, and might be getting a 5.5 real honda for £60 including p&p, wheras a clone would be £100
edit: paid the guy £45 and im getting a courier for £10,then going to sell the little 2.2 maybe

Might use it or sell it on as i won the 13hp. i may put a gas cap on and make it look nice to sell.
Which would you guys use. (turns out the 13hp is a generator engine, so I will have to make a nice little adapter.
Wait, thats obvious:L i will see if the 13hp will fit, as that is 6x the hp of the 2.2hp and so i will go for 3x the speed and 2x the torque, yay! lol. otherwise i will have about double the speed and a lil more torque with the 5.5hp, but i plan to do hills, and fields, so the 13hp with 1:4.5 ish and 11" wheels going 30mph sounds good to me
now i have to tell my dad. he is in new zealand and i said i would get a 5.5-7hp. oops

edit: im going to fix and sell the 13hp probably, because it is too wide for my frame, and the 5.5 should be enough. a vid may come tomorrow.
the 5.5 works great! it sounds really happy, however its too quiet lol!

Ok, right now i am about to say **** it with the belt tensioner!
the belt is wearing real quick, and the small brake lever struggles to get enough leverage to get the tensioner off the belt enough. also the little keyway in my wheel hub keeps giving out. i will try and fix it for a little bit longer, but it is really pissing me off, and i am tempted to buy a cent clutch, several feet of 41 or 40 chain, a few sprockets, and a wheel with a 4 bolt mounting pattern, as i am really pissed off, and i feel like doing it the right way, even if it costs. **** belts, as soon as they get wet they slip too, and chain was invented for a reason!!!
annoying though, cos i spent months of lunchtimes on the pulleys and stuff. shame to waste them.

could people please post some pics of how their front forks are attached to their bike
the tensioner is ok, just needs tweaking. the belts are wearing due to them rubbing.

When i have fixed the forks, i will probably stick with the tensioner, as my dad says i have put a lot of work into the system.
however, i could get a belt cent clutch, any thoughts?

Nice job overall, that thing is awesome, but you better get that front fork wleded on there to stay, trust me. i had a bike taht the frok fell off of while I was going 30mph! Hurt like a bich!!! You will wish you had welded it good the frist time afte that.

i thought i would just add here... scored a brand new 40 series for £55...
I just have one set.
I am going to fix my forks by getting a piece of pipe 22mm i/d, slotting it over the steel that is welded onto the forks, bending it around and flattening/ cutting out the middle bit and welding it all up. kinda hard to explain, so i will post pics when i have done. however i have gcses at the moment so it will be in a while.

ya u relly need to renforce they are hardly welded i would cut a notch it the tubes so they fit flush with the other tube but nice job

I will draw up an accurate pic of what i want to do in a minute. I will try and get as much weld area (eg. Surfaces touching) as possible.

danng...... you need those welded a ton more tho. first fill in the gaps then weld on very high.
