Mini bike project

Hey!
Im going to build a minibike, and I want nice sound on the engine.
Some thing like a harley engine or somthing. What should i use? a honda 8 hp engine? or a pocketbike engine?

On the minibike we built, A 8hp honda, with just a long straight pipe, sounds absolutley awesome.
Heres the pipe on it,

Something like that will give you the sound you are looking for.
The pipe was the upright pipe that went up to the handle bars on an electric scooter, it worked out well.

And you will notice, like someone mentioned before, its welded to the stock flange.

Because of the RPM crazy nature of 2 stroke pocketbike engines (some can tap 12.5k), and because a lot of a 2-strokes power is in exhausts, I would suggest you stay away from pocketbike motors if it's a deep sounds your looking for.

Agree. A 2-stroke would not have that deep sound.

A nice Honda GX or GX clone would sound like a motorcycle with a nice pipe.

There's only so much you can do to a pb pipe to change the engine tone. Mine has a spray-can muffler that lowered the high-pitched whine down to a lower rumble. I'd go for a long pipe with a muffler on the end for a good rumble.
