Hi guys thought id share where my micro build is at so far!

The plan was to make the smallest go kart possible whilst keeping it simple and using cheap second hand parts.. Using a lifan 110 at the moment but really need something electri start!

The frame is similar to a bierkiste (beercrate) cart minus the crate and wanted foot pedals up front rather than foot pegs at the side to keep it more go kart like although theres such little room on this thing it is a struggle with the pedals..

cost so far is at $150 for a wheel set, hubs, axle, bearing carriers, stub axles and other bits and bobs, already had a load of old spare pit bike parts to throw at it.. steering wheel and seat just for mock up at the moment, well its all a mock up to be fair and once i know which parts work and which don't I will modify/replace and improve over time..

Was started originally as I wanted something to practice tig welding on so I'm no expert at it but is a great learning experience..

Things to do..
source a 140mm disc brake
weld exhaust pipe up
mount fuel tank and pump
paint it
ride it and try not to crash it!

Thanks for looking!

Awesome! Looks well built and should be fun. Why do you need an electric start engine? It looks like you don't have much room for one right now.

That is awesome. I have a gx120 that was given to me and I've been thinking of something very similar. You did a great job with it, everything is proportionate and clean. Well done.

Where did you get the wheels/tires?

Cheers! I just started welding stuff together and that's what I ended up with haha I got a few rough ideas from online but didn't copy any plans or dimensions.. Thats a very tidy build! i don't think mine will finish up like that beast though! and in the UK bud! :cheers2:

Thanks, found them on ebay for £45 delivered 120 fronts 160 rears

Thanks! It can be kick started but its awkward and only turns the engine over once so its difficult, it would have to be a motor with the electric start motor underneath as there's not much room up top

Will have to get some better pictures soon

Small update..

Got the engine running, hadn't ran since 2010-11

I'm sure the carb that came with the engine was a pz26 26mm but from what I've read that's a little bit big for a 110cc and cannot get it to rev up with out cutting out as if its starving of fuel but ticks over nicely.. So may have to source a cheap 22mm carb instead.

Sprocket and chain mounted 17t front 19t rear, need my friend to cut some keyways for me soon..

And I found this cool looking 6 wheeler online but its the only picture I could find does anyone know anything about it? Wish i made mine a 6 wheeler now!!

If you speak German, or really like google translate then you can try to figure more about that one, and other six wheelers.
These mini karts are called bierkiste fahrunde. They are very popular in Germany. There are a few websites in German that are big on them. Parts, kits, forums, how to blogs etc.
You may find that one too

haha yeah I've used google translate quite a bit at forumromanum.com

But quite right this build is essentially a bierkiste kart minus the crate and has foot pedals rather than foot pegs. The footpeg route would have been far easier to build and if its too weird to ride with the foot pedals I might later change it and put a crate on.

All an experiment at the moment!

Yes! forumromanum.com That's the place.
Also our Moderator "Itsid" loves these little karts and he is German.
Any Questions he would be willing to help.

exhaust

hacked apart an old pit bike exhaust and rerouted it under the frame.. nothing special but should do the job!

Still got to weld a wider piece on the end for the muffler to mount to once I know where room is available and where to mount it.

Doesn't that lessen your Ground clearance significantly?

Unfortunately it sticks out about 10mm below the frame, should be OK but I'd rather it be flush as it might get beaten up and dented eventually off road.

As with everything else I'll see how it copes and if not I'll try a different design later

Got a 22mm carb and is running pretty good now and also fitted the fuel pump and tank which is just temporarily strapped on at the moment. And finished the exhaust pipe just need a bracket for the muffler mount.

My buddy cut some keyways (he had some troubles with his mill at first bless him) good thing you can cut a few key ways on the axle :p so should be able to give it a little test run soon..

Still need a small brake disc that can mount to a kart hub!

I had to have my Disc specially Cut down.

Yeah I might have to go down that route, brake discs are pretty **** tough though.. I found a 140mm disk at Beerbox Bavaria? Only £15 but they don't ship to the UK

A sprocket can be used for a brake disc....
A 140mm/5.51181" closest equivalent sprocket is a(#35) 45t (@ 5.590"OD)

---------- Post added at 01:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:01 PM ----------

Been trying to get her running with the fuel pump setup today and it does run but not very well.

The fuel pumps breather line from the manifold seems to have a lot of fuel chattering inside it but not sure why? i have a rectangular mikuni clone pump, does it matter which orientation it is mounted? i shown in photo above.

Any help appreciated Thanks!
