So my 2 Kids needed new Twin size mattresses for their beds.
Being that we still live in California... We are broke. So off to the Wal Mart we went. Found some mattresses for $99.00. When we went to the Checkout they informed us there was an $11.00 "Disposal Fee".
I asked "So Like a Core charge? If we bring the old mattresses back to you Do we get our $11.00 back"...
The lady said "NO NO NO Do NOT bring them back here we have no way of disposing them. This is a disposal Fee not a core charge. Kalifornia requires us to charge it, and the money goes to the state."
Well I still have to pay separately AGAIN to my trash service to have these oversize items removed at $10.00 a piece.
So since I have already paid the State of Kalifornia $11.00 to dispose of these and there is no collection site.
I am in a real dilema. My Question is this...
Do I dump them on the side of a STATE road.
Or pay AGAIN out of pocket to dispose of them properly.
Keep in mind this amounts to a 21% TAX on these $99.00 Mattresses on top of the 9% State Sales Tax. For a grand Total of 30% tax to buy a kids Mattress!!!
I think dumping the old mattresses on the side of the road and having the state get them removed is only the fair thing to do. As I have already paid the State $42.00 for tax and "disposal".
