Have you guys figured out why the clutch is pushing the bearings out and coming apart yet ? I was gonna buy one for my high hp drag mini but after a few phone calls i have changed my mind really quick. I don't want it coming apart at 80+mph and me having hospital bills. Cause i am pretty sure the warranty does not cover more than just the clutch.

That issue was observed in two known cases on our 12 tooth sprockets althought was not revealed during prototype and production acceptance testing unfortunately. The root cause was determined to be inadequate press fit between the sprocket bearing and the sprocket. We issued a recall on those sprockets and supplied replacement sprockets from SMC to those impacted customers and provided detailed instructions on how to replace them.

From that point forward, we discontinued offering our own 12 tooth sprockets and now only offer Vortex Red Sprockets from SMC. We have a few customers that are in the 20-25 horsepower range running 12 tooth SMC sprockets on drag bikes with success. The SMC Vortex Red clutch and sprocket design is a proven and time tested design in the karting world which is why the design was selected in the first place.

If you have any concerns, we would encourage you to use a 15+ tooth sprocket. The larger sprockets have the advantage in that the bearing can be positioned directly in line with the sprocket, thus eliminating the moment loads on the bearing.

Sweet. I will rethink my strategy. I got a idea that would change the whole drag scene and change alot of minds to benefit you guys and get more sales. I want to try it and cover it up for awhile tho. I need some extra edge. It involves just straight letting go of the lever and it working by itself like a real dragbike with a 2-step.

For clarification, yes I know 757 Karts and he is my son, yesterday I did not know this, I was at work posting and he did not tell me he was joining but no one hear wants the truth. Again I was at work and did not read all post or pay much attention to names, dates, or new members. So for that I apologize to everyone. Can I as for a re-do or a restart? I will not promote any business for a month like another member suggested if that's what it takes. Everyone is quick to call BS but I have seen many products over my years that are good products but fail for one reason or another also no matter how much testing nothing is better than live testing, no engineer can dream up what their customers are going to put their product through.

I call BS!!!
A Tesla model-S is 0-60 in 3.9.
2016 Stingray Z51 2LT RWD 7M 0-60 3.9 sec
No way your HF motor does that!

75 feet in 3.78 seconds is only 13.5281 miles per hour (average), 757 Karts did not say 1/8 mile he said 75 feet (basically "Hole Shot"), with the group we race with that is still not fast enough to get hole shot on some of these guys but its fun when you do that and have 15 foot rooster tales behind you.

??? And what? Ask away looks like its an open forum you want to ask a question just ask it.

Got home and logged on computer and found out "my son" had joined the forum, none of your business but he does not live with me and he had sent me a link to the forum. At that time I felt that it was not required to inform everyone that he was my son, still don't but not here to talk about personal issues or if you dislike me and want to block all my post. Any more questions?

Really! come on down to Virginia, got about 13 karts racing every other weekend looking for some new competition. It could be friendly but I doubt it with group!

Appearance .. Alex,

and with him his new friend, the broom.

I don't want to hand out warnings,
since frankly.. every one involved is a similar part of this mess;

but there will be some deletion going on.

[EDIT]

So, I just cut this thread in half basically..

From now on: Talk about the clutch or STFU.

Oh and PGBAJ and Deathwish,
just to be sure you don't have to live with the spam-stigma...
DO NOT talk about / link to or promote the clutch in any way in any other thread.
Or I'll be the one marking you with that spam-badge!

Sorry ddowns46, but I'd ban any of these two guys to get me a T-Shirt as well (orange... V-Neck ;))
If you think that's a bad move, you'll understand why I have to do this :D

Wow DeathWish, I had join to see this for myself, what a rough crowd. Good luck with your upcoming race, hope to get mine started this weekend. Hope to be out there running with you in a month or so. Maybe I will get some good pointers on what I need from the forum.

Well Poboy you are living up to your reputation, thanks for the great welcome. Everything everyone says can be interpreted multiple ways. My friend (Deathwish) was talking about the forum and told me about the thread so I had to see for myself. Since you already ran his dad off thought I would see what it was all about. His dad is a nice guy and has tough skin but is a little head strong. I don't know what you expect us guys to GET, and nothing DEROGATORY here and who is calling who names. Check the attitude on the log in page and lets start talking GOKARTS!

Welcome Grape!
What kinda kart are you running

Thanks for the Great Welcome, at this moment I am just starting my build, ran a couple of weekend on a borrowed kart with 757 Karts (local Karting Group) and caught the bug. Picked up an old frame and am starting to gather ideas.

Well...let's see. Most folks join this forum in the 'Introduce Yourself' section. And most start off with: "Hi..new here looking forward to learning and maybe sharing some too."

Then they get a warm welcome.

You come here talking to your buddy like this is Twitface and speaking less than respectful of this forum or it's members.

EDIT: If you want help...ask for it. If you have knowledge, share it. If you want to get in on the banter...go for it. If you want to insult me...by all means...feel free...I can take it. But don't walk in judging this great forum off one thread or one member, and commenting negatively about something you haven't even experienced yet. Spend a little time looking around. We'll be nice if you are.

BTW: Welcome to the forum. Sorry if I'm a bit touchy right now...but "Mr. Nice Guy" ticked a few of us off.

Let's try this again, SORRY Poboy kartman I did not see in any of the registration information the proper way to start off in this forum.

Hello, I' new here! I just joined a local karting group in my area (Virginia) and am in the process of starting my build. Have not built a kart in over 20 years and know a lot has changed. Look forward to any and all information you are willing to share.
