This is the cart and the one with the bigger tires is just a simple mach up.

Oh and the comments were all good but i think i found the real reason why my steering sucks so bad. Its the cheap, stock hiem joints. When i pulled then off the looked worn out bad. And since I'm beefing up the suspension i might as well do the same for the steering linkage.

Fix them up and lets see if that works

Looking at it this at lunch, i realize it is going to be a little more than i first expected. I didn't think it to be a cake walk by no means. I do paint body and sheet metal work for a living, but tube fab is a different animal. Does anyone have any measurements or idea of how these control arms go on?

Everything is welded up. Now I'm saving some scratch for some new steering components.

Well, i found a guy willing to part with a yerf dog rack and pinion. And a friend of mine is checking an atv salvage yard today for brake cables. This thing might be thrown together with used parts, but it's still going to be fun.

Ok, it has been a while, i should have all the parts needed to finish my front end some time this week. But i have a question. For now i am going to keep the rear swing arm, but i would like to fix my engine so that it is in a higher position and i don't want it mounted to the swing arm. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I just love how people only check out new threads. Guess that is just the way it is here. Anyway, for anyone still reading, i got my rack and pinion today, as well as the universal joint steering shaft. I plan on riding this weekend. I'll post pictures when its done

Dunno how I missed this but...

Mounting the engine higher will raise the CoG &, quite possibly, create handling issues. Unless it's creating mechanical or clearance issues, leave it where it is...

Some people just don't have anything to add to the thread. You have had nearly 450 people look at it though. There are not too many members on this forum, so things are pretty slow.

Don't be discouraged though. You have a killer kart there though, and if we can help you out....we will

Thank you. Another question. I can't find the specs for mounting the rack and pinion. It seems like it is supposed to be offset a little. I just don't want to end up being able to turn more one way than the other. Oh, its for a yerf dog spider box

I am not too sure where you would get that, but wait a bit and someone might know

Hey Ozan,

If you look in the "go kart identification" thread, on the second page, you will see my kart. It is the Manco Aerforce F-265. It is the bigger brother to your kart. The engine is mounted in the frame from the factory. It uses 2 jack shafts, with the second one mounted in line with the swingarm pivot. This allows the suspension to work without affecting the chain length.

so my engine gave out on me a few months back and i thought it might have been due to bypassing and not removing the governor. so i opened it up and pulled it out. still wouldnt fire up. checked compresion, nothing. cleaned the carb, still nothing. then my wife came out to the garage after listening to me cuss it up and down and said" have you checked the spark plug?" that made me even more mad. i told her that it doesnt have enough hours to even think about it. but i pulled it back out, went to the parts store and picked up an ngk. sure enough, she was right. props to my wife.

:lolgoku: That comes under the heading of Occam's Razor (the simplest answer is often the correct one) & leave it to a woman to come up with the simple answer; for some reason the male gender tends to overlook the obvious most of the time...
