I have purchased this go kart. It is a Manco Silver Fox with the 6.5 Briggs and Stratton. This is my first go kart and I do not know to much about them.

I'm having problems the power to get up hills. The hills are not to terribly steep, I would think that the engine could get me up them at 195#. If I don't get a good running start at full throttle, the machine will bog down as I start the incline and then usually I'll have to let off the throttle and roll backwards and take a different approach.

I've heard people mention switching out the gears on it. Can you tell from the pics what gear I have and what gear I could move to? Also what do I need to do to identify the gear myself? Is there a good website to source parts from?

Does anyone have a/know where I can get a manual for this kart.

Thanks in advance.

Factory it should have a 10 tooth off of the TAV II CVT. The axle could have a 54, 56 or 60 tooth from the factory using #40 series chain. Manco went tits up in 2010 good luck on finding a manual.

Yes count the teeth, no telling what was done to it by the previous owner or if it is still stock. With that TAV it should be quite a climber.

Are the photos from the seller or is that your place? You need to rescue that 4-wheeler ATV either way. :drool5:

Tentatively ID'ed as a Manco Silver Fox model 606B (basically a 600 series kart with parts commonality across many models). I see decals on the floor pan, is there anything there that is legible and has a model number?

I have 606B specs:
60T (tooth) axle sprocket
9T sprocket on the driven part of the TAV-CVT
#420 chain

Service instructions:

Assembly instructions (not much info):

Exploded parts list:

Count the teeth to be sure and to confirm my info.

That is the sellers place. He did mention that he had a few four wheelers in the back. I never did get to see them.

What's a TAV? I can tell you it's not much of a climber. I'll count the teeth.

Comet Torq-A-Verter. A belt driven Continuously Variable Transmission [CVT] that is on your kart.

Definitely not a climber at the moment.

Maybe your CVT is roached out. Show us photos of the way it is now. The photos you showed us show no belt installed and then a photo shows a belt installed. Idk....

From one of the pictures, it looks like the axle sprocket is very large. That's good.
I am wondering if your torque converter isn't sticking in the high gear range. As mentioned by others, that kart should climb really well.

The big one on the jack shaft with the small sprocket. Is the secondary, the one on the engine is the primary.

Last night when riding it for a few minutes, the engine revved real high and the cart lost all forward momentum. I looked back and the primary was rolling on the ground towards me. I found all the parts, I believe. Although there was one large flat washer taying on the ground with the rest of the parts and I can't figure out where that goes. I reinstalled those parts(except the flat washer) and the cart drove again. I'm going to go ahead and order a new cvt kit to install.

Does the 30 series cvt kit on Amazon seem to be the right fit for this cart?

Just repair it, sheesh. Learn to be a repairer and not a whole parts replacer. There may come a time when you won’t be able to Amazon something, God forbid, and you’ll be up a creek.

Do. It. Yourself.

I'm not sure what the symptoms of that would be or look like. I'm going to go ahead and order a new cvt kit to put on it. Any suggestions? I see the 30 series kit on Amazon for a decent price.

Do It Yourself
You are kind of rude. But I do know how to work on things myself and would repair if I knew that it could be repaired. Could you point me in the right direction to educate myself on repairing this?

Perhaps post some more pics of what parts you picked up and what the shafts looked like.
We can spot issues miles away but we need your eyes.
It looks like you have all the stuff there to repair. Why needlessly spend money.

People post pics of their dinner and their pets and there poop.
But we can't get pics here.

I did start my post with pictures. I get it, you would like more photos. Other people have asked for some as well. I will get more photos.

You say it looks like I have all the parts for repair. I don't have any spare parts at all.
