Hello, I posted my intro and info on this cart in the appropriate forum but figured there might be more traffic here. As you can see it's seen better days. It is the original motor, the plate is so weathered I can even read the numbers on it. Obviously looking to swap motor (tittleston 10hp) brakes are seized up not sure where to get replacement/compatible parts, put new seats 5 point harness, and add o to door bars to keep extremities inside the cart in case of a roll over. Not sure if it's a 2 piece axle, trans or live. No idea othe clutch either. As of now all the wheel's spine freely pushing it aroundHe's what I have any help would be appreciated thank you.

Go through the Manco Deuce options here to try & narrow it down.

Or here. Scroll to #609 and beyond. Hope this helps identify your exact model.

Thanks, those look close. However this does not have a gearbox or reverse, fenders and all the other do-dads. The brake diagram is super helpful. Thanks again. It appears the torque converter goes to the jackshaft then sprocket and gear at the axle. Which begs the question on axle type live or trans? I haven't had time to jack the rear up but I assume if both wheel's spin then it's live and if only right rear spins it's a 2 piece? New to karts, this thing is totally different from the ezgo golf cart I swapped a VC460 into. That was a breeze!

Yah now assumeing based off similar pics and a few I found on letgo that look identical. Mane difference I've seen is the motor and axle setups. Frame looks the same but nothing else. Really confusing.

Live axle is a solid axle from end to end.

By trans you probably mean a differential that splits the engine torque, allowing each output to spin at different speeds; like the way the outside wheel turns a different speed than the inside wheel during a turn.

That ain't no cart (kart), that's a buggy or an ATV. Time's have changed.

So this is weird I had a couple of these about 15 years ago and fixed them up. I never saw one that didn't use the (Dana if I remember correctly ) reverse transaxle or one that used an 8hp motor. I did order a lot of parts though and never saw one like this in any parts diagrams. Either way it's a Deuce and has the same frame front end and articulating rear end......it should be fairly easy to mount a new motor to it. It should have a live axle on it. Looks like a 40 series torque converter with the larger driven pulley (8.5"). You can probably find the brake parts at go kart supply. They have a lot of older Manco stuff. What size axle does it have? Check to see the diameter of the driven pulley, the jackshaft that the driven pulley is on and also the diameter of the axle for starters. Also if you want your motor mount to work
without modification you will need to verify that the old and new engine have the same mounting holes / and output shaft placement. I'm sure a lot of guys here probably could tell you that I am not as familiar with those engines. Gotta get back to work so I'll check back in on this one later.

Thanks for the input guys definitely gives me a direction to go with. Seems like I have an oddity of a cart/atv. Not looking to go crazy with mods just a fresh motor, brakes, por 15 the frame, safety netting, add cross bar for 5 point harness and some cheap summit race seats, add some paneling and a roof, maybe some lights and the never ending list goes on. Guess I've got the bug since the golf cart swap I did. I'll check out the clutch and Jack shaft and axle diameter. What's do you guys think of the tilloston 212? Should be about the same if not better than the Briggs that's on there right? Here's a link, sorry mods not sure if this is allowed

Idk, those flathead Briggs certainly have great bottom end torque.

Why not the Predator 420cc (13 HP)?

EDIT: you've got a lot of metal tubing "cage" and weight to move around. Not sure the 212 Tillotson engine has enough grunt.

:iagree: Hellion do you know how much different the output shaft is positioned on the Briggs compared to the 420?

Well, called American landmaster and no luck, so talking to there tech he was just as puzzled, so sent him he same pics to see if it would help in further identification. As far as the motor swap I'd rather do the VC 460 seeing how I can get it on sale for $330 shipped. However, I don't think the clutch can handle it, may need a longer jackshaft and housing and additional fabbing. I'm trying to keep this realtively budget minded. May just try to rebuild the Briggs if it's worth it and can find parts for it. Are they're any other drop in motor solutions than can give the torque need for this buggy? Any ideas are appreciated and thanks again for all your help.

Sorry been tied up with work and stuff. Jacked up the rear end and spun the tires. Rotated right tire clockwise and left tire spun counter clockwise. If I only lift the right tire it will spin. Acts like an LSD, however no differental, or gear box. So? Live axle would spin both in same direction, could it be housed in the sprocket/brake assembly?

Hellion, you're mistaken! It's a Tittleson 212! :roflol:
It sounds like you either have a differential axle or one wheel peel.
Definitely not 1WD, so you probably have a diff.
Or a broken axle. :lolgoku:

Good catch, JT, didn't notice it in the first post. Guess that engine's not the titts for my build! Oh forgot to mention I do hear a clunk noise if I to k the tire forward and back while lifted, not while rolling on the ground though. Has anybody seen this axle setup before?

There are a few more grammatical errors in the first post, but I'll try not to bug ya about them, they don't really matter.
As for if anyone has seen that axle setup before, we need to see some close up pics of the axle from multiple angles.
For the clunk sound, I would think that it's a loose chain, I had that problem on my kart until I shortened the chain.

I would think a big block with a jackshaft would have a live axle. However, both wheels would spin the same way. I know the older cars without positrac if you spun one wheel clockwise, the other would spin counter clockwise. If they were spinning at the same rate when you did it, I would say somewhere in there you have a differential of some kind. Make sure the other wheels wasn't just rotating on it's own and was caused when you turned the opposite wheel. The clunk could be coming from the differential, and also could be normal. Try and get under there and get pics of the entire axle. In the one pic, the sprocket attaches to something pretty thick.

Yep, not a word Smith! I can get more pics, however the chain is off and still in one piece. Not sure how it hopped the sprocket, all of the teeth look good. Pics #2 shows the large sprocket and brake assembly, and pic #5 shows the torque converter and you can see the axle. You can see the carrier bearings in the pics there's 4 total, and the shafts rotate with no wobble to them that I can see. These are the best ones I have of the axle right now, I'll take more tonight when I get off work.
