This thread's been busy! Great find. Wish mine had been that good when I got it. Not nearly so nice. Something they didn't mention, with young kids, the predatrrs have throttle stop screws that should help to slow it down a bit because that thing will probably haul butt. Good for teens but younger ones, not so much.

I've had that one listed for $20 for over two months, no takers, and as you'll see above, can't give it away! �� if it's a non-running techumseh and no one nearby needs free parts, it's next best home seems to be the scrap pile. If I can't get rid of it to someone else it will probably sit around stubbing toes till I get sick of it.

Yeah lol, really depends on the area and if someone coincidentally needs an engine for a go cart/minibike or something small equipment. I like collecting motors, but know I probably wouldn't be able to sell them in my area too fast either.

On that last picture that has the plate with the Torque Converter on it. Does anyone know if I will need to reuse that plate with the new Predator motor? Or is it just part of the old style torque converter?

That plate is the best torque converter setup. Measure the center to center distance betwen the torque converter units and buy a suitable belt.

I took off the top rusty part of the torque converter and everything inside of it just crumbled. Springs and nuts just turned to dust.....is it still salvable and more importantly would it still work with the Predator engine? Sorry for all the dumb questions. Like I said this is my first go kart for my son and I. Could I just replace that top part and call it a day? I'd go that route if someone has used this same set up on a Predator engine and could confirm it fits.

It could still be salvageable, and yes you can replace just the driver pulley, but it may be cheaper to order the whole China t/c, pull the driven off the aluminum plate and mount it on that jackshaft, jackshaft being the part under the engine you are asking about, it will all work with a predator, just make sure to order the t/c for a 3/4" shaft, and you'll need a 30 series t/c.

Post a pic of the engine pulley. We should be able to tell you. But it's be easier to put a new driver on it off of amazon or ebay.

I'll try to get one, but like I said it just fell part as soon as I removed the bolt.

Getting the old ones off that engine shaft and the jackshaft may be a tough task as well.

Just been doing little things to the kart. I picked up a predator engine today and ordered a 30 series torque converter set up. I replaced all the hardware on the kart with good fresh nuts and bolts. Most the other stuff was way rusted out. I ordered new pedal springs and did install and wire up a new kill switch. Looks like it will be after Christmas before I get the joy of putting it all together. Since we bought the kart early his Santa presents are all the parts to get it up and running....

Well I finally got the Kart up and running and it seems like I got all the bugs worked out. Brakes still need to be adjust a bit, but hey they work. I ended up rigging up some peddle extenders out of 2x4. Just drilled a hole thru them and bolted them to regular peddle. Next thing on the list will be some new tires, but will probably wait a couple months to do that. One thing I noticed is that the frame is tweaked a bit. Not sure if it's worth looking into putting a torch to it and trying to straighten it back out or just roll with it.


I replaced most of the hardware and springs ect along with new engine new torque converter, throttle cable and new chain.
