What's wrong with the Briggs?

Unless you are swapping in an identical engine, something will have to be changed. At the very least, chain length and throttle control. The bolt mounting pattern of the ultra-common Honda GX200 and clones will likely be the same.

There's only one way to learn...:)

Seriously, it's not that difficult & we can help you along the way. One of our mods (landuse) is still in the process of rebuilding his first engine :)toetap05:) so it's never too early or too late to learn...

Sorry guys, I don't know what to say. I saw the guy starting to make it last week, and now he says he is busy again. It seems like my job is so small that any sort of work that comes in gets done before mine

Man, you could've filed the darn thing by hand by now :roflol:

That's just lousy customer service.

I don't know what to do. The worst is that I know the guy. It seems like all the machine shops seem to dismiss the small guy until they have a bit of free time that they can fill. I feel like pulling my hair out

It's been long enough that I don't even remember what you need machined.

That kind of thing just burns my hide. You might have a small, insignificant job THIS time. What happens when a big job comes along? I'd take it elsewhere. So much for building a customer rapport.

I'm not sure what you're apologizing for, it's not your fault.

Anyways, Danny, with the help of this forum and some research, you can probably get that engine running. It's worth taking a stab at. The worst case scenario is that it just isn't fixable and you wasted some time. However with the trade off being that you learn something, I'd definitely say it was worth it.

There are many different ways to connect a throttle cable to the carb, it's just a matter of using your imagimation... You can use linkages or connect the cable direct to the butterfly; the only two things you need are some way of connecting the cable & some kind of stop for the cable sheath.

Using the search function, have a look through the forum for different setups & take your pick; just about every kart is different coz there's not "standard" or "one size fits all" setup...
