Hey everyone!

New to the forum. Currently restoring my old childhood kart. The tag says it is a Manco 405-00. However, I can't find much info on it. Like manufacture year for example. Any input would be helpful!

Here are a few pics. :auto:

Nice kart!
Budget GoKart has one, but it's currently derelict.
Most parts for that kart will be very generic.

He's got a 445. Different, it's a live axle with bigger tires.

Like that, that's mine. And Tkart, save that decal! I'm going to have to get creative with mine because it's seen better days.

Lookie there! Spunkbrothers back together again in the same thread!

Hey TKart23! Start a thread over in the build section with your kart! Put up pics as you go. I have a couple myself, going slow right now. Thing is in good shape, you should have no issues getting it looking like new money!

You'll have to deal with any rust that you think might be under there. If it were me, I would get adhesive stencil paper and put over the top of the decal then cut to shape with an exacto knife. After painting the frame, you could just pull off the stencil paper.

Good thinking! I will do that!

So I am going to purchase Predator 212cc and looking to add Performance Stage 1 Kit.
I found a few but is there any one in particular that the vast majority recommends or are they
all pretty much the same quality?

What's wrong with the Briggs (Fun Power?) 5 HP that's on it already?
I betcha 10 to 1 it's original to the kart.

I'm surprised, quite frankly, that JTSpeedy didn't tell you you were a heretic for considering another powerplant besides the exalted Briggs & Stratton...

Yeah, I don't know how that passed my Briggs radar.
I would certainly keep that Briggs!

The Briggs still runs just needs some serious TLC but is the orig. motor. So for the sake of time and getting it back up and running I figured I would run a predator 212cc and add some bells and whistles to it. Definitely keeping the Briggs and will rebuild it during the winter for a little side project and hopefully keep it as stock as possible. Unfortunately though I was unable to salvage the Manco decal. There was a lot of rust underneath it and it was spider cracked in a few spots.

Oh heck, that just brings back way too many memories of what a PAIN it was to get my engine all fixed up. :ack2:
The PO seriously screwed up the carb on mine.
You seem pretty eager to ride it, so I advise you to use the 212 temporarily while you fix up the Briggs, and then FEEL the difference between cheap Chinese made stuff and good ol' domestic engineering!:2guns:
