Speak for yourself. If you don't have anything better to do in your life then go on a friendly DIY Go kart site and make a huge thread about racism, then YOU can feel free to leave. I am just standing up for the respect Asians should get, not being a "smart ***". Even though there is an off topic section in this forum doesn't mean you have the right to be racist. You have agreed to the rules and condition when you joined this forum, i suggest you please do so

Oh come on, you play the race card? No one so much as hinted any racism. Made a "huge thread about racism"?

Im helping a freind with a 5 page report on why goods should NOT be imported from china. so any input will help hes focusing on vehicals. so yeah say wht ever you want i gues.....

What the hell? The guy asked about it for a project. Is it racist if one starts a thread about things "made in the usa"? I hate it when people just play the race card out of the blue. Unbelievable. You sure as hell are being a smart ***. People like you crack me up. You could state your position in a polite fashion without the name calling. You have no right to ask this person to leave. "Go on a friendly DIY site..." You gotta be kidding me, you're the one who's disturbing the peace.

I gotta go with Freakboy on this one Carney, that's not racism, it's realism, ;)
The discussion and question was about Chinese vehicles to begin with, he didn't say anything about Korean vehicles, Japanese Vehicles, Vietnamese vehicles, or any other Asian manufactured vehicles. Experience and Consumer tests have shown MANY Chinese products to be of substandard quality compared to products manufactured elsewhere.

I'll have to agree as well. Their manufacturing is a little bit like the wild west out there -- anyone remember the dog food scandal where protein levels were bumped up with toxic chemicals?

And everyone has a right to be racist. Do I want it here? No. Was FB being racist? I didn't think so. I think people here have experience with those "motorcycles" from Pep Boys or those "Baja" scooters -- they're junk, they break, they shouldn't be allowed.

Either way, religion and politics will always get us into a flame war; let's keep it clean!:cheers2:

N. Korea is a terrible place where the dictator opresses his people. China is communist. We shouldn't support communist regimes

China is far less communist than you think, a whole different world compared to NK(NK is a textbook definition communist country). They really only half *** prop up NK to look good(commies or not, letting your neighbor starve to death looks bad).

Yea, I know I was just saying that the US relationship with China is not great. And N. Korea relies on China for food, and other goods. The USA trys to give aid to the NK people but, the dictator refuses most of it.

Isn't auto glass meant to shatter into millions of little harmless squares in an accident?

The windshield is laminated glass, so it's meant to stay together as one piece, but if it does break apart then yes it's in little cubes.

Just watched the video... that is such an unsafe car. Did you see the a-pillar just collapse under the load? lol

Holy Hannah, did this thread get STOOPID! Racism? Grow up! And tell me, oh great seer of things I cannot, if it's incorrect to call stuff made in China "Chinese", what the he// may we call it?
Like it or lump it, there are many reasons that "Stuff Made In The People's Republic Of China" is inexpensive, and yes, of lower standards that domestic products. These reasons, and the results are indisputable. They pay MUCH lower wages to employees. Many of their materials are not as refined. Their "safety standards" pale in comparison to ours. Thier quality control is much lower. They don't have the same, massive union bodies demanding insane wages and benefits. The list goes on and on. This does not make me racist, this makes me informed. Stop being such a politically correct pushover, and wake up and smell the coffee.

The reality of it all? Caveat Emptor, or "buyer beware". If all you can afford is a cheap HF clone, go for it. Know that it's not built to the same standards as a GX, and there is a fairly good chance of a truncated lifespan. Fortunately, here in North America (I can say that, right?) we have warranty protection, and a critical failure is most likely to occur within the warranty period. Companies that specialise in importing "Stuff Made In The People's Republic Of China" generally seem to be more than generous with exchanges and returns. Princess Auto is amazing. If you can or will buy a GX, or Briggs, or whatever you wish, go for it. A lot of pockets will be lined, MOST of them for our benefit.

As for cars, it won't happen anytime soon. Our safety standards pretty much guarantee it.

PS- You'll notice I positively reference the Japanese-made GX a couple of times. Kinda pees out the old racism campfire, don't it?

Yeah too right, the chinese do have a rep for making crap, but yes they are getting better, i just wish they stopped wasting the worlds resources making cheap plastic toys and what not.

I'd never buy one of those cars, they are way too ugly.

That video is disgusting.

And on another note, whats going on in china right now? factory strikes, low wages have forced them, this is why communism does certainly not work.

Glad you brought that up freak, it was on my mind too.

I saw the "Great Wall Of China" ute ads, they are just too ugly sorry, lol.

Cheers, Cam.

10 years ago Toyota was THE sh*t. Family was a Toyota-holic, everything from a 89' Celica, to a 87' Camry, to a 91' Previa, to a 00' Camry, to a *barf* 2010 Prius (But hay, 45MPG with four people :D)

Seriously though, 10 years ago Toyota was absolutely terrific, IMO. My dad killed his 87' Camry (265,000 miles, ONE set of spark plugs, ONE timing belt, nothing else was replaced), by going to work with nothing on the dipstick.

Started to knock, then decided to call home. Brought him some oil, went away. Goes to work, a couple miles later, throws the rod outright. Calls AAA, and gets promised a tow. Half an hour later, dad gives up and drives that other 50 miles home on 3 cylinders.

THAT'S reliability.

why mention toyota? its a jap company... they are quick at manufacturing just cause the skip most quality controll/ employee safty...

Wtf? American cars have downfalls too o_O

Let's see...

In 2009 GM recalled 1.4 million Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac vehicles for a engine-related (oil leak-prone) fire.

In 2010 GM recalled 1.3 million vehicles for a power-steering failure-related issue.

In 2010, GM ALSO recalled another 1.5 million vehicles for a windshield-wiper related issue that could catch the vehicle on fire (WTF?)

Toyota has problems of its own, but don't get strung up on just Toyota, every manufacturer has problems of their own.
