Put tank just above engine some how.Run a thin metal bar under the pit bike tank then bolt tank onto that thin metal bar,then in the middle or the thin metal bar run another bar pointing down then weld it onto kart so the tank above your engine.Mad to explain.Then you can ride it till you get petrol pump sorted out.Coming on now tho in it bud.That gear lever looks like it would work if you seat was in place.

yer i might make a little alloy fuel cell up for the time being dont really want the pit bike tank hanging above the engine next to my head pretty much hahaha. and nar the lever and a really long way back and as you would kno kart seats have sides in them so you wouldnt be able to get ur arm back far enough besides the point i need to put the clutch lever on the shifter

well... the karts all back in bits motor off wheels off axle parts off. just the frame sitting on a bench. im goin to do it right this time and not go skimpy ill make the engine mount stronger, a better sprocket hub, the front brake assembly. the whole deal. oh btw it needs lower gearing was pretty slow tho the engine wasn't running right.

I was thinking how flimsy the mount for the engine may be, and possible prone to flexing/sagging..

I was thinking just adding on a piece or two of 1" angle iron would stiffin it up..

or.. using a pice of C-channel for it.. something with small lips to it though...

the other thing would be mount the engine inbound, and use a jack shaft to transfer power and line up chains etc..

also allows using more sprockets, so ou could use smaller ones if needed, and more gearing options in a manner of speaking...

as a kid we tried to make a lil go-kart.. we used mountain bike tires in the rear, and kept the shifting mechanisms..

too bad pedal bike chains are so weak.. lol.. easy way to add gears to something..

maybe one day i'll try that out again.. lol

when you first stated your kart was all ripped apart, i was expecting to hear you were painting everythign or something.. haha..

ok wow hahaha lets start with the engine mount the bit of plate is 100% strong enough over the distance it is at its 12mm thick lol. i can change my gearing on my axle sprocket and my engine sprocket so no need to run a jack shaft thats just more stuff to go wrong. the engine is all ready a 4 speed so idk about wat ur talking about push bike chains and gears?. and the frame was powder coated and never used before i bought it so was in A1 condition no need to paint.

so i figured it was kinda flimsy.. (Im used to trucks n cars, and i still cant quite get over how small and light and unsuportive and small some thigns are on karts.. lol)

(My light bar on my truck that i fabbed up is prolly heavy dutier than 90% of the materials used on eveyrones karts for example.. lol (1/4inch flatbar just for four 6 inch lights mounted in the winch bucket.. lmao)

and you said it needs lower gearing, wasnt running right.. lol. so i was thinking you wanted to gear it down, it jsut seems like theres such little clearance on those things.. so i was thinking add a shaft, and use more gears to get em all smaller and to a closer target gearing, but also mainly to get the engine back inside the frame.. hehe

Im realy not used to those sorta things..
when i think go-kart, I pretty much think it needs to be able to go all the same places, just as fast or faster, and hold up to,anthing a wuad would.. hehe..

I gues sim kinda looking to replace my warrior with a kart or something like that.. lol

I wish we could have racing tpe karts like that around here.. i think the only place for 400 kms to ride somethign like that around here is on like select highways. lmao..

hahaha no worrys man wen i said i wanted to make the engine mount stronger i mean im goin to run a couple of strap around the back to more mounts on the engine as it was only bolted down to the base of the engine. and eventually the 125 4 stroke engine will be replaced with a 250 2 stroke mx bike engine. and will do aporoxmently 200kph (120mph) so yer kinda good and would be smoking the tyres at 120kph

thats freeking fast though.. i had my cordoba up to 260, and my talon 240..

i can only dream about what its like to run a kart at 200!! well, for now anyways.. haha!!

please, PLEASE get some footage when you get to that point!!!

BTW, love the sig.. haha.. guy at work who races sprint cars runs alchohol.. theres abit of teasing related to it.. lol
(correction.. his son drives the car, the old guy at work builds the engines and sets up the car etc...)

hahaha funny u should mentoin that, my old boy use to run a formula 500 think uses call them mini sprints, and way yea there 600 cc bike engines on methanol and make around 200hp in a same style of car as a sprint car but smaller thay way about 400 kg with driver. And we have had heaps to do with speed way him and his team mate were 2 of the top compeditors in aus.

Dan, I really think you should mount your engine centered over frame rails like your old mount did. It looks like someone just slid a piece of hollow tubing over the center of your axle, so it may already have a keyway machined on the inside of the rr-axle bearing where you'd need it.

Shifterkart rear sprockets usually only need to be about 2-1/2 to 4 inches in diameter, (19 to 30 tooth) so hopefully one similar to this would clear everything on your frame:

Its common practice to bend the seat stuts and move the seat over a little if you need more room, this also helps to balance out the karts R/L weight bias for better handling:

yess i kno it would be better. but finding a 30t sprocket to fit a #420 chain is quite difficult. the only thing i can think of is buy an 18t front and bore the guts out of it on my lathe and make a coller with a keyway cut in it then weld to the sprocket and run a 13t on the engineit self tho idk how well this engine will pull gearing like that if i was all ready putting the 250 2t in it id defiantly go that way. but yea ur thoughts ?????

ok awesome just found a heap of #428 shifter kart sprockets. and a front sprocket to convert my engine over to a #428 chain. looks like im having a win yay!!

ok so couldnt i find a front hub to suit a front brake rotor on so i made my own...
now i just got to buy a set of hub type wheels and another brake caliper and ill have an awesome front brake set up .
heres a pic of the front hub i made its a bit rough its only the first one i machined out but will do the job.

Hold On, I have a sprocket like that. It was on a Yamaha Race kart. It has the axle and nice floating brake disc. The original engine was KT100. What size chain did they run. The kart was a factory yamaha race kart.

I have pics. Will try to find them. I will take $35 plus shipping for the whole package. I see you are in Aus. Might not be worth it for. Let me know. I will did up some pics or take more.

Edit: Found some. I sold this on ebay but they guy did not pay. I have a spare disk and hub. But the spare hub is cracked. See pics.

The last pics are of the frame the axle came out of. The last pics are another frame that is the exact frame which I had. I used the Yamaha frame for my bar stool racer.

I did not read this whole thread. So sorry if this will not work. It is a 1" axle
