When I moved to the desert, I killed every rattlesnake I saw.
Shortly thereafter, I had mice and rats everywhere tearing up everything including my cars.
It was then I decided the rattlers had a job to do, and I upset the balance.

So after that, when I saw one, I would snare it, and take it somewhere away from the house.

Sometime after that, I learned secondhand, that a rattler bite, and a helicopter ride can easily set one back a 1/4 of a million bucks.

I then made another decision.
Screw rattlesnakes.

I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to kill a rattlesnake in the wild...but I wouldn't think twice about killing any venomous snake around my house.

I just killed a bunch of paper wasps in my laundry room. I used to wonder what in the world they were good for...until one day I was in my garden and saw one snatch a caterpillar. So...I normally leave them alone...but they just built their nests in the wrong spot.

There are a few nests in my roof overhang (soffit)on the front porch. But they are about 6' away from my door...so they can stay.

Now...muddabbers....my wife used to freak when she saw one...(they like the laundry room and sunroom...and my sheds...)...anyway...it took a little while for me to convince her, but she eventually got to the point where they could buzz right by her head and she wouldn't even flinch. She would be doing laundry while they were buzzing in and out.

They're a real dilemma for me...I leave them alone....but they tick me off when I find their nasty nests everywhere. And they eat spiders...(or at least put them in their nests for the babies to feed on)...and spiders kill pesky bugs...and again...I like the non poisonous ones. But...there are plenty of spiders around...so...let nature take its course.

I love my lizards and snakes in my backyard. So, by rights....I should be upset to see a roadrunner...but it's not like one comes in my yard every day. So...it's cool when I see one...(even in the wild it's rare for me) but in my driveway was too cool.

I tend to leave stuff alone- unless it becomes a danger to me or my family.

In your case, I would include the toads under family. Wait- that sounds bad. I don't know you so I cannot say you are a toad, LOL. Just saying that your relationship to them is more as pet owner/caretaker so if something is threatening them, you remove the threat.

I do not know enough about snakes to say whether live trap and release is an option. That would be my first choice. But, if the problem becomes overwhelming....

We had a massive rat problem in my area a few years ago when a vacant factory was torn down at the end of my street. The neighborhood cats had a field day, and I dispatched a few with an air rifle when the city gov't put a bounty on them. Didn't feel the least bit bad about it.

Ok new creature. Man screwed this one up in the first place. and now... How about the Wild Boar. Devastating all sorts of land from crops to wild areas. and hunting them does not seem to help. This Plague of Pigs spreads from Florida to Texas.

I can tell you why pigs are such a big problem in Texas anyway. Too many people see them as a cash crop. Northern lawyers and doctors come down and spend too much money to hunt them, when it should be the other way around.

Another problem lies with the fact you cannot sell the meat...so the market is overseas...changing that alone would completely change the dynamics of the situation. Again....economics controls results.

A friend of mine built a wild boar trap that worked very well and didn't cost much to build. With a market for meat ...(which btw is about the best eating you can get)...there would be two markets....pig traps and meat sales.

There was a show on TV briefly, Kinda like Duck Dynasty or something.
Anyway the guy would Bow Hunt Wild Pigs in Louisiana and sell/Give them to the Local BBQ lady. She was selling BBQ Pork.
