Do you know how to convert a push behind lawnmower's engine to have more than one speed when you start it up? When you press the throttle it goes to one speed and when you release the throttle, it turns off. I would like to know how to make it have more than one speed like a rototiller.

He means the engine runs only at idle, the "throttle" youre talking about is not a throttle, its a lever that turns on the ignition so it sparks(un-grounds it).I have made a lawnmower that revs up i used it to cut down cat tails,i also mounted on rototiller tires (deep lug) i called it the lawnmower from hell:devil2:

All you have to do is disconnect all the rods connected to the carb throttle and mount on a cable to it so you can rev it up.( i personally just tied a small rope to the throttle on the carb and pulled on it ;) )

OH! I get it, He want's to modify his lawnmower so that the throttle is separate from the lever so he can rev it to where he wants to. That would require removing the governor and setting up a throttle of some sort. Is this for lawnmower use or are you planning on using the engine for something else?

I plan on using the engine for something else like a go kart. I know how to convert a vertical to a horizontal so we don't have to go into that.

Good cuz that would have just opened a major can of worms.

Well take some pics and post 'em. Removing the governor isn't too difficult and attaching a cable or something to the throttle can be done quite easily. All the stuff that has to do with the governor are a bunch of little levers and springs. There are some great examples of how others have worked out their throttles and what they have done it in other threads on the forum.
