That is a voltage-test type deal. But if you get the battery tonight then you shouldn't need to jumpstart it. The battery should be charged so it'll turn it over.

Find a small flat tip screw driver, maybe 1/8" to 1'4" wide, stick it in like a key, and turn it like a normal key. Also, a trick I don't recommend using would be to run a thick wire from the starter to the battery-pos and touch them until she fires up and take it off. I highly DO NOT recommend this. This is actually a really stupid idea but when your on the fly and you have a long enough wire, it works.

I will use that as a last resort then. lol

A universal JD key should run you like $3 or something like that. You can go to TSC to get them, Homedepot, loses, etc. Walmart...probly not.

Ok normally i don't really care if someone has a difference of opinion on here but i have to set the record straight here. You are talking about a lawn tractor/lawn mower vs a garden tractor having a different voltage system. This is INCORRECT. If you think that the difference in a tractor having a 6v system vs a 12v is simply whether its heavy duty you are wrong. Is thishttp://www.snapper.com/riding-mowers/RE%20Riders/ a Garden Tractor? Its 12v. About as LAWNMOWERish as you will find.

Here's one... http://www.cubcadet.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10051_14101_162710_1210164_-1_600000_1210164 is that a lawn mower? Or a heavy duty "garden tractor"??

Here's a Garden tractor... http://www.husqvarna.com/us/products/garden-tractors/gth24v52ls/#specifications

And of course.. the only thing made since the 60's that will be 6v...http://comley.us/browse.php?&action=show&artefactID=1061

Bottom line... if you find any type of mower or tractor or object that you sit on that isn't an old farm tractor or maybe one of the first ever garden tractors produced that HAD electric start (few did until the late 60's). It WILL BE A 12v system. I have Bolens tractors from 1963 that are 12v.
