Well, I didn't go to the store today, but I'll see about stopping by there tomorrow.

Today was LawnBoy day in the kibble garage; spent all day working on that LB and got a lot done! :D

I drilled and tapped the hole for the vacuum line for the carb, JB'd it, cleaned the cylinder, piston, crank, head, crankcase and screws.

I cut off the tank support.

After I cleaned up all the parts, I placed them inside zip-lock type bags for freshness! I want to keep them clean until I get the sealant stuff.

Looks good, but I do see a possible major problem.
Get out the Dremel and cut down tap (inside) so it is nearly flush with surface. Crankshaft throws need clearance to swing around. One rotation like this and your hosed.

I thought about that, but it doesn't seem like there's much to port on these engines.

Really think so? I put the two halves together and slowly rotated crank to see if they would hit and it didn't. I guess it would be a good idea to do it anyway.

Yeah..Hmmm ghetto. I think I'd be better off removing the nipple and cutting it down, then re-JB'ing it. I don't wanna risk damaging any part near where the reeds are.

I agree with russ. It would REALY suck to nick the crank shaft or somthing. Also like russ said parts DO flex a TINY bit so I wouldnt chance it either. Its only brass, it wont be hard. I wouldnt re jb weld it. Its almost a one time thing.

Well, I'll try to get a small cut off wheel in there and see what happens.

Have you contemplated cutting a keyway yet?
I originally had 2 flats machined for clutch set screws. This worked well on lower hp of 'F' and 'V' engines, but not on DuraForce as you can see in end of my vid. Keyway is essential to positively lock clutch in position.
I used your method of cutting keyway which took many hours to accomplish. Finished it off with a flat hobby/needle file.
Clutch I used has 1/4 keyway.

Yeah, I'm gonna do the keyway, but I was gonna wait for that until I got everything running properly.

Sigh.... I went to like 3 different places today, and none had the super 300, 515 or the Permatex substitute stuff. :mad2: The only thing I was able to get was the Loctite 271 that I need for the reed assembly screws. I guess the DuraForce will have to wait until I get back from vacation in a week. :(

Autozone, Pepboys and Lowes. There's nothing else nearby. There are other places I can check, but they're more of the smaller hardware stores that aren't open on weekends.

Well, that's where I'm thinking of getting them. Hmm I just went to Graingers website, they show that they have 113 loctite adhesives, 515 is one of them. There's a Grainger not too far from here! Maybe I'll go visit that place tomorrow and see if they have what I need! :wai:

I got some 515 from the Grainger today; I didn't know they only did Business - business transactions though, but they did a "one time accomodation sale" for me. I'll be able to put the crankcase together now.

Russ, did you have any luck with the stuff for the head? Any recommendations as to what to use yet?

I only just got to take head off today. I'm going to use the Permatex 300 stuff.
Should be reassembled and ready for evaluation tomorrow (Tuesday).
Took a few hours of run time before the last stuff failed. May be a while before I can give you a definitive answer.
I can't imagine why it wouldn't work as it is designed for use on diesel heads.
