go dell, the best otion as mine never mises a beat
hp's are not so good we use them at school and they are pretty dodgy but their other products like their screens and printers are ok

dont get a mac what ever u do.

Lol i have to fully disagree.

We used dells at school, brand new ones! and they were absolute rubbish, always losing the WIFI connection and very poor performance wise.

We have had quite a few HPs and they have been average to good. Never misses a beat, but a became slower over time.

Whats wrong with Macs?
Now i have a Mac and would never revert to a Windows, the performance and graphics are really unrivaled by any other make, i know there are expensive but i think it is worth the money. And never had a Virus :wai: i know they can get them but its a pretty slim chance.

Just my 2 cents anyway

Mac Book Air! Our local mall just put in an Apple store and I spent hours playing in there. I love Macs I just have no cash. Actually $2 but you get the idea.

Funny, ... the last mac I had was a MacIIci, yes that long ago and I have never looked back since. Yes they are good for graphics if that's your profession. But you will pay out the nose for the software and the computer. For what you are looking for, and your budget PC is the only option. Unfortunately, the reality of the matter is in my opinion, ... Mac, ... it's the biggest and most expensive IPod you can buy.

BTW, ... I do when forced to, use a Mac at work, ... but I find myself reaching for the PC every chance I get. I have had the company set the Mac aside in the shop.

Mac Book Air!

No disrespect, but if you are leaning toward the mac side of things the air is the least practical. In order to make it so thin they had to ditch a lot of things. The apple store workers can tell you more about that if you go because theyll attack you when you walk in the door. Lol they are very informative though.

i think your best bet is to test mac, dell, and hp (or another brand your interested in) at a store, have the best buy guys tell you about them, look at reviews for the top 3 computers your interested in, and make a purchase!

Consumer Reports is your friend.

Next, Google the computer you want to look at and also type in complaint, problems, issues. You will find them all.

I know that they did ditch a good bit, but they really are good if you don't want to do more than research, typing, basic computer uses, etc. If you don't need a powerful machine for high demand programs, it's a perfect fit. And the size and weight is unbeatable. Unless you get a net book, which has very limited performance.

I dont think anyone would get a Macbook Air for, performance or graphics its much more of an image thing. Like you say if you want to type some stuff or surf the net its perfect, and you look good doing it... Or you could get a netbook at half the price and be better off.

macbook air is actually getting to b older technology. mac now has the ipad and iphone 4 and stuff they keep getting smaller. i used a macbook air before the internet was a little slow, but i dont know if that was just because the store was packed. of course that was in '07 i believe though.

We can use my shop teacher's test, well punishment, for texting in class. He runs them through a bandsaw. It was hilarious. He did it to a senior last year because he had it written up in his syllabus for the class. We had to sign it as well as the safety release to take the class.
