Hey guys and gals

I’ve been looking on YouTube on how to wire a Killswitch on a 420 cc but all I find is for the 212 any idea how to wire it?

Thank you

Would you prefer to keep the stock ignition box or can that be removed?

I threw that box away and wired my own kill switch and starter.

I dont remember exactly what I did but its just a short walk to find out.

Honestly i wanted to remove the ignition switch and wire this starter I bought. If you can let me know how you wired it that will be great. I’m going to cut the connector and solder the wires

Seen all kinds of fancy kill switches recently, some just like the tether type seen on Jet Skis. Those are something to consider in that it's a more noticeable visual switch. In a throttle-stuck situation, you can wave your arm across the tether that is stretched between your shirt and the steering wheel area and voila.

...and gals

Where all the gals at? 😍

What I did was use a three wire ignition switch for the starter (only used two wires obviously) and a regular toggle/rocker switch for the power/kill switch.

Got busy yesterday so didnt have a chance to get out there to look.

Ill get some pictures or something in a bit when Im out there.

You normally splice into or connect to the wire running to the coil mounted at the flywheel. Go with a push button style switch as opposed to a toggle switch, this way you never forget to flip the switch and pull the rope or crank the starter over and over before you realize the switch is off.

I do not like this solution because in a run away situation, you cant shut the engine off. You need to hold that button for a few seconds.

I’m dusting off this old thread because this kill switch solution was always genius:

TL;DR - One touch of a button connected to the low oil sensor “Gold Box” kills the engine. No need to keep holding it down. You cannot press and release and see the engine start firing again as with the usual kill switch setup. One touch does it, so the momentary switch is king.
