Kill switch hook up?

After taking the engine on my kart apart, I noticed I forgot to hook the kill switch back up, and of course I didn't take notice to how it was hooked up beforehand. :\

It has a regular kill switch on the side of the engine, but then it has another one right under the steering wheel with a on/off switch type deal.




Any ideas how it would hook up? There's a green wire and then a black one.

It all sits right behind the seat on the back side of the engine.







Aaaand in other news, I just picked up this awesome set from lowes 200 piece metric and SAE.

Could I put the ground wire on the frame and the hot wire on the spark plug?

How about a pic of the engine? Probably an insulated wire terminal on the shroud somewhere. .....

I got that same set a year ago i think i got it on sale for $120.Do ya self a favor and keep that square sponge pad that came with it.It keeps everything in tight.

well the green one definatly goes to ground and was there not a wire running from the switch on the engine to towards that switch.. or i know on mine predator i just took the oil sensor unplugged it and it teed off of the switch on the engine just tied into it and when u flip the switch it shuts off but if u didnt want to unplug it u could just splice into it

Here are some pics where the wires should go. There's a little hole on the blower housing right under the gas tank (not visible in the picture) that I assume the longer black wire goes to.

I think one end should go to the coil under the shroud. In the pic you can see the green wire coming out of the shroud on mine. It goes to a little black plastic square just under the throttle controller on the shroud. That isolates it. One end of the kill switch goes on it as well, the other to any place that is a ground- perhaps the throttle plate. ..When the switch is closed it grounds out the coil.

Well it really doesn't matter . It's like having a green garden hose and a black garden hose hooked on each end of a valve, only backwards. With the hose valve closed water can't go anywhere. With the kill switch open electricity can't. The whole point is that one end of the wire should be to ground and the other to the coil with the switch in between. I was trying to show how it (probably) should be hooked up.

And yes one end to ground and the other to the spark plug would work- same principle. By now you should have a pretty good understanding- where to look and what to do.....

Did you look for the little black plastic square? Hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like a broken terminal where it should be. It could be that a PO has removed the wire from the coil. It's up to you now. I can only do so much from here.....Do you want to remove the shroud and look at the coil or just rig it? You took it apart. ....I've only got a few pics to go by.....Wires can be lengthened or shortened- looks like the factory ends are gone.....

I just put the 2nd kill switch wires where the original kill switch wires were. Haven't tried it yet, but I hope it works.

Well, it worked. But now the arms in the recoil starter that push out and catch the starter cup....broke :\

Guess I gotta order another one.

Yep! But it's an honest mistake- the NRA just sent me a letter telling me that our right to bear pawls was under attack.......

Paws. Gotcha. When the paws broke, it snap half of the plastic thing that holds it too. Either way, my wife is a purchasing agent at a parts store and get get anything engine and small engine related for super cheap. So I can get another starter recoil for $10 And that's the whole assembly. I got my $80 clutch for $20 shipped!
