I think "free" is the only way I'd get another tecumseh engine. There's always something wrong with it. Right now, the case is leaking oil, so I took it apart and put a new gasket on it, so we'll see how it goes.

It runs real choppy at higher rpms, too. Cleaned the carb, checked the valves, and it still runs like crap. The carb on there isn't adjustable, so I just chalked it up to that.

Gonna pick up a predator 212 next week and bench the tecumseh for a future go kart project.

:lolgoku: Some swear by them but, most think Tecumseh are junk; the carbs are very basic &, therefore, tempramental. I've worked on a couple & sold them as quick as I could...

The carb on mine isn't even adjustable.

Just to give you an example of how crappy mine at least is: It was running fine all day today and yesterday. I went out to start it today and it idled for a few seconds and then I heard a clank. Tries to start it back up and it's not wanting to start.

Can't wait to get my predator 212 this week!

its mainly poor design. they went out of business for a reason. the best way i can put it is if stuck with a tec find a fitting briggs carb.
