ok cool. I have some Ideas about mating this clutch to the motor. Ill go take a look and see what they look like and Ill find a bolt that fits to find the thread.

If I get time tomorrow, I'll pull the clutch of the 3hp that I just got, and see what I can determine.

On the other hand, I'm not opening up my 8hp again. I JUST got it running!

I was thinkin a bicycle freewheel welded to the starter cup could run a chain back to a sprocket with a bicycle pedal. the left side crack could be cut off and a limiter and spring return all built into the shroud. should work since it would have the gear reduction needed

Ya that would be cool. some of the levers or foot arm folded too. but with that kind of set up it would be still a kick forward. This method could be also mated with a dual sprocket clutch, or a PTO with 2 sprockets and this, one for a clutch on a jackshaft and one for the starter engagement. the other sprocket with the chain is attached has a spring attached aswell, this serves as the "retractor" for the kicker arm and also prevents a kickback via the chain movement.
