Kelley KLS-S and Boma 48v 1800w?

I am pretty much done with my son's Razor Dune Buggy (36v 1000w controller, Currie motor, headlight, running lights, wig-wags, horn) and now I am jealous and want my own kart.

Would a 48v 1800w 4400rpm MOT-481800BLDC-MB (Boma?) from electricscooterparts.com and a Kelly KLS4812S be a good match to drive one of those "Vintage" karts offered by GoPowerSports? The gearing plan is 11t motor sprocket and 60t axle sprocket with 420 chain.

I have built an 9 inch extended 1965 rudd with that same motor setup with 9 tooth drive gear and 54 tooth live axle sprocket with a t8f chain...manual disc brake ( doesn't stop very well)
maxes out about 26 mph....I've builtit for a 11 year old grand son...but I dig it too

I just found your Damien Kart II videos last night with the 1800w motor. I was thinking about trying putting batteries under the steering loop, but it looks pretty good how you did it with the motor up against the rear of the seat and the batteries right there in line. Are you getting 30-40 mins run time with the 4x 12ah batteries on that motor?

I just found your Damien Kart II videos last night with the 1800w motor. I've got the 48v 1500W boma motor and my 8 year old son drives in in our yard without issues. It can really move with him on it, so I usually don't set it higher than medium. He's never had it run out of juice yet and it can easily go 30 mins. If I were to sit on it though, different story but it can still move on concrete with the both of us.

Does it bog down with you riding it in the yard? Do you know how many pole pairs the motor has?

Runs with #35 chain on a 2 seat manco single wheel drive. If I hope in with my son it starts a bit slower but will still get there. This is on grass. It's not like a gas kart with torque converter, but it's still pretty good. For the kid, it's quiet and it rolls. You will enjoy driving it too.

Better to ask for forgiveness than permission?

For reference we have 4 12v 22ah 13lbs batteries.

I went with the RELiON Insight GC2 48v, which I figure will probably have to be mounted on the back of the seat frame with a bolt-on style battery box. The controller assembly might fit neatly underneath.

I put the batteries under the steering hoop for both of my karts.
Helps with weigh distribution.

I am considering trying to put it under the hoop as well, but I think it will dig into my tendons. That first picture looks like some serious batteries; what do you have in there?

Orange kart has 20 panasonic lithium cells from a Ford Energi. The black kart which is the original version of yours has a single 16s lithium pack from a Chrysler Pacifica hybrid.

Is your black kart an antique original or earlier model replica? Did you add the extended pedal mount for tendon clearance?

I decided I couldn't live with being forced to have either the steering wheel turned to the side or the tires turned to the side at all times since the steering link wasn't welded straight on with the steering wheel bolt circle. So, I drilled out some new holes.

More parts are coming today.

What size tires did that come with?

It came with 13x5-6 and 410/3.50-5s.

The motor (ME1305), motor mount, and battery were just delivered. I need to go get some mounting hardware. It looks like the battery will just fit in the front with only minor rubbing against my legs.

That's awesome. You're going to love it.

Oh, watch out for that motor mount. I've seen that they are thin and may flex or bend.
