Kawasaki LTD's were the fastest in their day. Quad plug motor. They are good sleds but parts are hard to find. Plan on replacing more than a rod. Crank seals, maybe bearings, piston(s) etc. It doesn't end at the engine. It will take some major $$ to get back to life...But if your up for the challenge and have the knowledge by all means do it.

Like crazycart said, it would be a really nice sled...but it needs pipe, cdi, carbs, and probably more than the rod. Plus you should expect to be replacing atleast a few bogey wheel bearings, and most likely the driveshaft bearings.

Unless your into the vintage stuff, it would probably be cheaper in the long run to find a good used mid 90's sled.

I was thinking that if it was realy bad I would buy a F/C 440 to replace it. I really don't need a moneypit, I would rather just replace the motor.

Pretty well any older sled you get is going to need alot more work then first thought. I was told my sled simply needed a new base gasket! Look where it is now lol. Ended up being a entire engine tear down/clean up new piston rings etc.

LTD's are rare sleds. You don't want to ruin one with a F/C engine anyway. MAJOR downgrade from the 4 plug 440. It would just be wrong....
