It’s a carter bro’s frame with a pred 212. Used the original torque converter and bought the same size belt. Bought a new chain.

Engine governor is still on. When I push the accelerator the engine will open up but the kart only goes about 8mph.

Any thoughts?

How many teeth are on the axle and clutch sprockets? Did you align the angled sheaves on the torque converter exactly the same way when you installed the Predator?

Everything is the same with the pred engine as with the old tecumseh engine.

Are you sure that you are getting full throttle travel when you push down on the gas pedal. With the engine off, have someone push it down all the way, and then look at the engine butterfly and see if the throttle is being opened all the way

My best guess would also be to check the throttle cable as landuse mentioned. the butterfly should smack the screw when you press your gas pedal all the way
