Update on PoBoys rental Tonka go kart thingy:

I can't leave well enough alone... except when well enough is in the way.

That fin (the Dozer's blade) has to go somewhere else.

Front end, stupid. Top of dump bed, stupid. Top of engine, stupid, non functional, blocks other yellow stuff...

Crap.

Even though it's totally Cliche', we'll punt on this one and say this must go here.

A few tack welds here & there, bend into position and it seems to tie it all together. It's small enough and slammed enough it's not too intrusive but helps out... I think anyway.

Screw it. Onward.

Where's my printout... me thinks it needs the Tonka R/T logo stenciled on soon. The fin makes the R/T mean something I guess now.

hehe I was thinking of the same kart BM

all it needs is a set of PVC rear sleeves and it'd be as scary looking as it'd be fun to drive..

Only downside: I'm not sure it's something I see for the baroness;
mylady is that a Lady... and lady's to not twerk

But truth is.. front engine (man I hope you can find one of the Briggs boxers KC had)
moved back seat and some artistic shenigans... and it'd be great...

Maybe even as a reverse trike (no rear axle.. just one of your balloon tyres) with a narrowed down frame to give it that extra Fokker-look

As per usual... Update:

Cruising the local ads today turns up this... thing.

I'm sure it's a concession kart of some kind... and it smells like something old... like a really old book or something.

Like From another fricken country-old...

... and nobody on this earth could break this ride. It has car bearings and axles. A trailer has smaller axles.

I only went after these nifty 5" wheels on it... which in itself are a trick to remove... but the frame, axles, holy crap, what a beast.

All works amazingly except the engine on it... don't care anyway though.

Anyone know what this thing is?

Ferrarini Armando e figlio who made this tyre...

Since it indeed reads Ferrarini e figlio .. Mantova is a small town in northern Italy
so that too would fit the bill.
Company fused into bumber srl.
and moved to Porto Mantovano...

And you'd never guess.. they're still being made:

Wow. This old thing has seen it's days but every single thing on it screams "metric" and it just has some old feeling to it. Meaning, so old it was built to never ever break.

The side rails and bumpers have a groove... and that means that somebody built bumper material for them that slides in.

For some reason, I'm not going to do anything with it at the moment. Engraved (welded) into the front bumper is a number 11. (which to those paying attention is my Daughters Racing number... weird) There are no other tags and no holes making me think there ever was one... but it could mean there's more out there somewhere.

The shape of the chassis hints that it may have had a Beetle body on it. Nice find in any event and kind of a keeper.

My wife said that as well about the shape, it looks almost as if there was a bug/beetle body on it. As for the steel beam rides, I remember those but I don't think this was one of those. There's no stoppers or remnants of anything underneath. Those beam ones were larger too I think.

I'm starting a different project. Kart Rods on hold for a while. Be good y'all. I'll be back later in the summer.

Time to build a cyclekart with my spare stuff, then sell off the rest.
