... no it doesn't

laser cutting...

try to also get a quote from shapeways.. no wait, wrong site... ponoko... yes that's the one!
download the template, draw your drawings and upload for instant quotes.
great site, reasonable prices;
PLUS: you can also offer your designs right on their site for others to buy.
if no one buys.. you lost not a penny since nothing will be produced...

(same as shapeways just completely different ;))

Update:

Really, really, stupid stuff... I call it the "bitter work."

Sure, turning a pile of parts into the work of art I strive for has me at Thrift stores all day today. Why?

Certain things... things one only finds in the depths of these places.

Anyway, we've turned up a few pieces that with some modification will make some nifty additions to one silver German themed ride I have...

And... I had to have that helmet, perfect for what I'll do it.

Then, a quick shot of the Baroness outside, winter is about to end soon... so I had to see what those turbines would look like. I'm happy.

Thanks for looking.

Pic 2... I actually have one of those! It is a holder for a set of cooking utensiles.

But what are you going to do with that Prison Food tray. LOL

I figured it was something like that... it's the air filter cover once I whip that together. It'll be on an interestingly routed set of flexible tubes.

The food tray... LOL Um, cut it up and rivet certain parts of that to certain places like strange air scoops probably. I dunno really, I make this up as I go along generally.

As a side note: I find it really strange that this helmet was originally orange. Um...

Weekend coming with near 50 degrees... package arriving tomorrow with some nifty semi-hard-to-get wheels... and 16 laser cut specialty items will be in hand...

Time to get something going here and put things together.

Stay tuned.

Update:

Ok, so half the day is good.

Part of a plan I had didn't quite come together and that... will have to wait until next Tuesday to unleash on the world. Trust me, what I'm making is something people might actually buy.

Back to reality for now...

A while back a mystery "donor" gave me a set of turbines. I won't use the word "rare" here but when it comes to the vintage stuff, they can start appearing that way.

They were in rough shape and I fixed one chip in the front wheel. It worked but then sat for a while because I tend to switch back & forth between these projects.

In some kind of mix up, one of the inner rears went missing. I looked and looked for a long time and never did find it.

The search for one on the net and among friends finally turned up 3. A perfect front a chipped rear... and the other rear was perfect.

Sure, I'll run a fixed (jb weld job) but something's just had me wanting a whole set... and the Baroness needs a nice set.

They arrived today. So, for the Baroness... a full set is here.

So, as I posted a day back, these babies are for this beautiful ride... which will roll this year after 2 years of ... um... design? Yea, go with that explanation.

Thanks for looking. More soon.

Update:

OHHHH, I cannot wait until the weekend. Time for some building.

On other news, hopefully someone out there can help me.

I'm looking for a few items that I know are just sitting around in places and perhaps someone will be nice enough to sell me one... if they have one.

A new feature to all my kartrods will be these. They give it a certain charm... well, to me anyway.

Anyone have any of these old sediment bowl type fuel filters laying around? You know, the old style ones with the glass bowl?

The smaller the better but up to 4" tall will work well.

Thanks for looking.

FrankenKelly. Good one. It's Mad Kartist I'll have you know. ROFL!

Nah, just a functional piece that gives them a bit more character. That, and it's way easier to change filters with em.

Them glass sediment bowl filters are cool. Ide like to, someday, build a vintage-esque "kart-thing" one of them filters would be a good touch.

Do you have a current family portrait of these karts?

Long time no see there. I remember you saying you would do something like these someday.

My recipe:
1. Find old kart
2. Chop it down a bit
3. Add junk laying around in an artistic theme of sorts
4. Spray paint things (important: paint before assembling things, the dings & grease marks give it character. If it's too nice, you'll not want to drive it.)
5. Give it a name
6. Drive
7. Break stuff
8. Fix.
9. Keep eyes out for newer additions to your main ride
10. When new items are added to main ride, build another with the old stuff you took off.

Lather, Rinse, repeat.

A few pages back I put up what I'm doing this year:

Also, just click my albums, the rest are there somewhere.

Seriously, I've been waiting for someone to at least try this... but nope.

And all someone has to do is SIMPLE: Find a kart and a small metal garbage can and 2 soup cans... paint it all black and you have the beginnings of the never seen... TRAIN kart rod.

Maybe I'll just do a tutorial... Kart rod in a day, for under 150.00.

Then, all it takes is time to modify as you go.

Soap box time:

If anyone was here in the beginning, remember Sarge? Sarge started with a trashed dune buggy frame... and a laundry soap bucket.

MUA HA HA HA HA!

"Off the soap box sir..."
