I like it!....Good music. Siren is a nice touch...very urban defiance.

This is how it starts. First your just adding to your skillset. Next thing you know, you're a filmmaker:cornut:

If I can make one small critique Kelly, perhaps make the text slightly larger, in this size format, some can be a bit hard to read. Apart from that, it looks & sounds good

I wouldn't enlarge any font to be honest.
yes it's hard to read in a 240px box, but who watches 240px videos nowadays anyways?

As soon as it matters, it's bigbox (480px) or fullscreen right?
And it's perfectly balanced on my iPhone 4s (a rather small smart phone screen)

So as I understand the fancy frame is just the placeholder, right?
If so.. 'K' is good to go

Now for the content....
I can tell you what I would love to see,
but that isn't anywhere near a possibility I'm afraid.
But here it goes.
Basically your urban defiance ride through the streets,
but different karts.. in different locations;
Urban Defiance on Lombard Street SF;
Bonneville Spirit cruising down Hollywood Bvd.
Red Baron on Las Vegas Boulevard...
etc.

OR something like __THE__ car movie
C'était un rendez vous by Claude Lelouch from '76

Sweet, thanks guys.

Although it may seem to be straying, this post is right on track because to me this whole thing is an adventure from start to finish. What's the finish line? I'll know it when I get there. I still haven't found the girl to be a crucial character in the commercial. (her name is Steph... the girl in my avatar, the flag girl that holds the money) And, I'm not even sure there's an actual point to any of it other than to just show off.

Critiques are always welcome of course. It's why I posted it. Yea, I know its small here but the full size ones are much better. Seems they just end up small here.

I'm going for hopefully a professional look & feel to it with simple intros & endings... not some parking lot video of someone going in a circle doin 25mph and goofy titles & transitions flying by... while we listen to "their" favorite song mind you. And that's illegal to boot. Negative, sort of.

It's gonna tell a story about a race, and a spirit of "doing" and mayhem that's lost on so many people these days... and if you haven't figured it out by now, I'm a bit of an industrial/pinup/post-apocalyptic/darker themed kind of guy. I've even got helmets in mind for some of the drivers in the commercial... they've got character. The music & sound effects I'll use are all either free, or I have permission to use.

I honestly have no clue what to do in an episode at all. I hate myself on camera, and to even try to film a creative process is eluding me at the moment.

Maybe I'll take orange's idea but it'll be more than a donut. More like: make some mounts for the go pro for the karts and take ground level wheel shots, going through stuff, close action racing with others.. stuff like that for a speedy yet dangerous effect. Then use pieces of them to transition between pieces in the episodes... but what episodes? What should I do one about?

Maybe I should post the mock up script for the commercial? Maybe scans of the story board? I'll scan it & email it to anyone that wants to see it. Just PM me your email addr.

Wish I had a few of you nearby, like you oxy... (I mean Blah) you look the part... especially the part of the driver at the end (in my script) that falls over on the side of the road while 2 others just walk away with the money... and the flag girl.

Never fear though, you return.

Thinking...

Yup, placeholder. Then I can just produce what I want and dump it into the placeholder.

For the locations, you're right. I'll never take them anywhere like that, but I have a thought now that you mention locations.

Locations based on theme:
Sarge = Old military base race
Bonneville Spirit = The Salt flats with 20t up front & 52 in the back
Urban defiance = unknown
Moving Violation (u51) = um... junkyard?
Baroness = abandoned air strip or old plane junkyard in the desert

I love the location aspect linked to the specific themed kart. That should work well
+1!

Urban Defiance with at least one scene/shot in the Sandlot (1388 Glenrose Drive btw) could be great a symbolic nod to the no rules, our game/our way versus the steril uniform team from that movie. Only, I know you'll make yours much grittier. The good thing is, that vacant lot is already looking grittier nowadays.

These guys are being goofy in this video but there's a lot of good info to be gleaned from them. John Soares is actually a brilliant visionary. I expect great things from him in the future.

Cool, thanks for the perspectives.

Weekend here, I think I'll do test footage with various cameras & see where I get.

The Commercial layout is done, storyboard frames in place with timers, now to drop in video clips, transitions & wrap this up.

Too bad it's winter... or I'd shoot the whole thing this weekend.

Anyway, a screen shot of the project on my screen. (some 30+ inch monitor...)

Don't try this in winders movie maker.

LOL

HA!

Update:

In my thought process, I finally figured out what to do with the test bed kart. While it could be a k-rod, it's gonna be something different, since it's a sad sack of crap.

It'll be the filming kart. It's got tons of room and that bumper up front to mount the cameras... plus the side bars will make great mounts too.

It'll have standard foot pedals so any, um... normal person can drive it & film without having to be bothered with odd controls like I use. Plus, it's longer & has a ton of room so it should be pretty comfy for the driver.

I named it "crash test" before, and that it will stay.

A goofy pic. Stars indicate proposed camera positions... nice & low.

More later.

If it's a Sad Sack, why not name it after Sad Sack?

An insert car! Here's a great pic of the one used for filming the famous Bullitt car chase. It was designed and specislly built to go fast and get really low angles. It was also used to film Stephen Spielberg's first feature Duel. An interesting bit of trivia: Cary Loftin was stunt coordinator on Bullitt and driver of the truck in Duel.
