Loving the new intro. Looks fantastic! The B&W with the "film treatment" immediately made me think of a couple Tarantino offerings, "Planet Terror" and "Deathproof" (the Grindhouse package)... Is that bad? ;) (Come to think of it, Doesn't "Machete" start of similarly? Must be the Rodriguez connection)

Yup, very exploitation film like. Nice!

Just waiting for flatface... time for more video progress.

I'm just using this one video as practice, so it may start getting old and this software I have is pretty serious. Anyway,

New video on kartrods.com main page.

Just workin out the bugs. :)

Sorry 'Sid; that was a slang term for making a fiberglass mold of the original part; especially because he's already stated that he was bidding on something that wasn't pristine, just so he could let inspiration loose with a clear conscience.

I still know that Kelly's going to be firing up the power tools very soon; the fact that he's salvaging something that someone else has already hacked means "no harm, no foul"....

I know, read it before.. understood..
but "pulling the plug" -at least around here- also means
something like "stop; whatever you're doing!"
sometimes even "stop breathing!"
I wasn't sure it's the same in english, but I guess it might :D

So I just pointed out : yes fiberglass.. no stopping

 Oh, so you thought I was asking Kelly to stop breathing?!?:surrender:

That would really suck if he did, because this thread is one of my favorites....:ack2::ack2:

Yea, I thought about it but I can't think of any good reason to make a mold of it. There's thousands upon thousands of these bodies out there.

I have a heart, and had been looking for just the right one. It had to be one nobody wanted...n just like this one. I couldn't bring myself to wiping out a usable one with all its parts.

The guy I got it from knew my plan and he, being a collector and seller of pedal cars, said he couldn't think of a better fate for this one. He'd had it for some time and the parts from it were sold to complete another with a pristine body. Then, it sat... and sat... and ended up on ebay numerous times, never to sell to anyone. It has a nice paint job but on closer inspection, there's bondo in a few places and that's a NO-NO in the pedal car world... making it worthless.

Perfect for me.

You see, it was one of the Dump Truck models, which appear to be the least valuable. Only the Coupe, the Themed ones (such as a NASA offical car, pace cars and Fire Truck) seem to have more meaning... dunno why. They're pedal cars, and stepping into that world for a time surely shows you a different breed of human being. I guess it's like collecting Spoons or belly button lint... gotta be the correct stuff I think.

Anyway...

It arrived in a box today, complete with a good 1/8 in of dust on it.

I cleaned it up as I worked, right on my work desk. My co-workers know all about the crap I do and it didn't surprise one of them.

Customer phone call after call, I'm just vaguely doing my job (I am doing it) but all the while, just wiping the dust off. It's loved now and will simply become part of another kids dream...

This kid, Me

Thus, this one will live on as something else, with it's face in the wind. Albeit, a harsher wind, but still wind in her hair.

Poetic eh?

See, I told you.

Loved.

My 3.5 legged dog, in his temporary puppy-race-car bed.

LOL

:funnypost::roflol: Depending on how much is left when you've got what you need, you might have already found the new repurposed use for the remanes.... (if not in the house, how about in the carport, so your smallest/ biggest fan can be comfortable while hanging out?).

Just an Idea...... Pat

Update:

Continuing on, from the living room...

I'd never thought of this but now that it's here, the creativity flows.

Thank goodness for those lame auto parts stores that are now selling all those nifty stick on emblems/vents & the like.

These V's work well.

Let me guess.. your thumb's covering an eight ;)

I guess it's too late for powertools on your side of the pond too...
So I hope you'll be showing some progress tomorrow :D

'sid (seriously impatient dude ;))

On a side note
the new repurposed use for the remanes.... (if not in the house, how about in the carport, so your smallest/ biggest fan can be comfortable while hanging out?).

Not bad.. the next step is a Yorki sidecar for the minibike :D
Well maybe not with these leftovers... but
go for it.

Nah... no 8. perhaps a letter...

Probably be the weekend before I do anything.

As usual, we'll see how it goes.

It's 6 degrees F here and dark too. Work comes before sunrise and I get home after sunset. Weekend is all I got for now.

Update:

Finally, the beginning of the weekend... and what am I doing?

After making dinner & the usual, I find myself outside in my sweats, socks, and a shirt. Flashlight in hand, open the carport cage...

and just sat the body on top... remember, I'm just using the front half now ok?

VIOLA!

I'm VERY happy. It's like it was built for it. I may be able to even incorporate the pedal car dash as well... and get the steering through the original hole in the body.

Even the wheel wells line up nicely.

MUA HA HA HA HA

Oh 7734 yes! (use a calculator, type 7734... turn over, look at it to reveal word)

Hmmm a mini license plate seems to be needed now. A black & white one from a kids bike.

Push it just down & forward so the bumper goes right over the kart frame, rework the steering (was going to do it anyway) and I think this will do nicely.

For those watching, feel free to use the idea. Pedal car bodies are generally 16in wide and should fit most of the older single seat yard karts.

Welp... come on tomorrow!

and a mock up... used the first pic from the last post.

Seeing the body fits so well, I will most likely leave a good part on the sides and build up something for the brake pedal & foot pegs on the outside, just on the front axles.

Now to find a police light... a working one. hm.

More soon,
Thanks for watching.
