It's a good idea, but we''ll see how it goes. I think it was was one of the ones that was a dump truck something so the back end is really just an open bare thing.

The coupe would have been nice but as I mentioned in previous posts, some of these folks think they're worth tons... and evidently, the coupe models were.

I got the front end, that's all I really cared about.

Onward.

Here's the same body my buddy made into a wagon for his grand-kid. Full on, custom made straight axle leaf spring front end. We call it the Gasser Pedal. The Corvair horn ring was a nice touch too. I got that idea from someone on here and passed it on to him. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1386269282.811312.jpg

Update:

As I do every Saturday morning, I cruise the net & have coffee. Wife's working, kid sleeping, dog is in the corner playing with his wubby, a good day.

And, as some of you readers have gathered, my plans change, often.

Today is about something I've thought of doing for a while but it really never worked out in my mind until this morning.

With caffeine fueling my morning, I wandered around the net and I landed on some news page showing a bus, a school bus, in a ditch.

It didn't appear anyone was hurt and it was just a story. Then what happens? I start thinking about old school buses. Those cool rounded 50's & 60's style of school buses.

So googling my way to happiness, I find pictures of old school buses.

"Click" goes my mind.

I have just the stuff to make a new project. Even though it's snowing and I have NO intention of doing anything outside today, I can still draw here at my desk and plan while watching the snow fall.

Remember that sad sack of crap? The one I'd planned as just a test bed? Well, that's gonna change. (no surprise eh?)

The back end of it is just so messed up (meaning, it's one a$$ end welded to the other frame) that I really just didn't want to use it because it looked like crap and didn't work for anything.

...until this morning's thoughts that is. What if I cover it up? I've never done that.

Meet a potential next Kart Rod. The old-school bus (ha)

I call it "short bus" (keep in mind... please... this is one crappy mock up with nothing really right at all... but you gotta start somewhere. right?)

Now, how to have dual rear wheels... (inner peace, inner peace....) Steering wheel is gonna have to be tipped up a bit... it's a bus... (lama lama lama lama lama....)

what to use for the body that won't melt when I stick a straight pipe through the back... Hm...

perhaps this mock up is too long, kind of looks like a wiener.

Thanks for watching. We now return you to your regularly scheduled ice storm & crappy weather, now in progress.

Kelly "Kart Rods" Wood.

Maybe raise the back half of the body to head height, giving the impression is IN the bus.... I like it.....

Apart from the paintjob it more reminds me of a 1930s race car than a wiener

especially a 1936 Auto Union typ C

What brave men.. 1936 520HP on pizza cutters stopped by drum brakes...

Loving the new intro. Looks fantastic! The B&W with the "film treatment" immediately made me think of a couple Tarantino offerings, "Planet Terror" and "Deathproof" (the Grindhouse package)... Is that bad? ;) (Come to think of it, Doesn't "Machete" start of similarly? Must be the Rodriguez connection)

It still screws me up watching you drive, with the right foot brake and (invisible) hand throttle.

Way to go, K!

I think I've got a pic here that combines the weiner, and bus-in-a-ditch. Got this off FB the other day- entertaining as all he//...

(Really. I can't imagine a worse fate than totally losing control of your weiner and putting it into a frozen ditch) :lolgoku:

That is funny; do you think AAA will cover the tow?

So far, I've managed to avoid that particular fate. I know more than a handful of guys that are making child support payments because they fell into the trap....
