aaanyway... moving on.

Worked a lot today on this and came up with a very very low & slammed neighborhood racer.

Experience in neighborhood racing has me pushing this one a bit in design. 3 junk kart frames went into this one.

We sit more forward in this and the mid engine layout should have this one at the top of the list when it comes to handling.

Anway, a few pics.

Keep in mind, the name still could change.

In a way, I'm ashamed to show this but I will.

When certain artistic factors weigh in, stuff changes... as has this latest one.

The Red baron was just too generic for me, while neat, it just didn't work.

After brainstorming with someone you all know the other night, we went from one name to another and finally came up with something. The names & ideas flew and went all the way from the dark side to the light. In the end, it might work out. I dunno.

I surely don't know where this one is going after some mild cutting & fitting, but it's gone off the deep end and into a strange place... a violet place.

Stay with me here, the name is Violet Behavior. (as in violent)

The pics don't look it, but it is violet purple.

get it?

eh... then again, the more I think about it... I might stop for now & finish up the 4 I started with & call it good. Maybe more on this disaster someday as this particular ship has run aground I think.

Unique, to be sure.

Hey- If you gotta throw it on the back burner for awhile awaiting inspiration, then go for it. That's certainly not unheard of.

Never be ashamed to show your stuff. When you create something (even if you ARE critical of your own stuff as you artzy-fartzy folk are*), just remember- you're still out there doing it- leaps ahead of those that aren't, and can't.

*a compliment. I wish I were.

Thanks!

And... Moving on.

With the implosion of that last idea, as I said, I figure I better get down to finishing up a few things to have 3 runners. Why? I found out today. It's funny how things work out in life.

Let's paint a picture here.

This evening, we're working on ole "sarge" here.

Finishing up the engine and the overall look of it, tighten this, plug the holes from removing the governer, etc. All is well here, on to the clutch, ready to go, move the rear sprocket to line up, all is good.

A few weeks back my wife (who works at home) had a space heater that she uses under her desk. We've had it for like 10 years... and finally it just gave out.

As I replaced it, I sat it aside but remember glancing at the little vents it had ... and thought, this could work somewhere.

Yup.

Oh yes, about life. A funny and quick story. At work, we all go to lunch on fridays. In the parking lot, I found a penny... then leaving, I picked up the most popular local underground newspaper for my wife. She likes to read it... and guess what.

When I arrived back at work, an email was waiting for me. It was a response from my craigslist ad... from the very same newspaper I'd picked up.

The interview and videos will happen may 26th. Yo Brent, you wanna play?

more soon!

Thanks for looking

Great call with the louvers!

As for the publicity, pure gold my friend! That's fantastic, and I can't wait to see the end result. Feel free to sneak my name in there somewhere... LOL!

Thanks!

Continuing the saga...

Yesterday had me doing the bitter work of fine tuning things, grind this, find a better bolt for that, making sure there's 3 runners for this newspaper story coming in 2 weeks.

And the Sarge's intek sends the rod through the block. Crap.

Back to the briggs flathead and after tinkering a bit, I find that the governer isn't in it and she's a fire breather. So, the sarge is nearing the first run this week... probably a weekday evening.

Guess the first idea (and the gut feeling) is the right one every time.

Today was a different story. A day ago I'd found a local deal in the classifieds and called on it. I got a return call the next day saying someone had flaked out so once again, I hit the road early Sunday morning with about 50 bucks to toss.

Let's just say this, the kartrods clan has enough parts minus 2 rear wheels to complete all 4 of them now.

So a few pics of the find today.

A kind of old 2 seater, functional. The wheels are all good & usable, bearings good, etc. The motor mount is 1/4 in steel, tough enough to hold 4 engines.

It's just parts.

A briggs 5HP, compression & spark could serve as something someday and some burly 10HP briggs with electric (and working starter) ... which I'lll never use. Anyone need anything from this?

and a chain.

Parts is parts.

More soon & thanks for watching.

It turns over and appears to have compression, but that's all I know so far. I'll check the spark tonight & let you know if you want.

It's only missing the muffler and electric starter. Pull starter is there.

Ohhh ohhh I know! You could use it and build a "big rig" to haul one of your other karts!
If you were closer I could give you an air horn to use.

Handling would probably suck though.
