Update:

Decided to kind of switch gears here (big surprize) while I collect more stuff over the winter for some of the projects... and put most of them away for a bit. It's just a hobby anyway.

There's this group I've heard of locally from a go karting friend that gets together from time to time. I'm not sure what it's all about but figured I'd put some more effort into Sarge and all her parts to give a good showing if I go. I haven't decided yet.

Like.. the actual street racing wheels, 3 stage pipe, etc... other wheels... whatever. In all, she has 4 sets of different wheels. I always wanted to put our unused racing wheels on old school rims... and they look killer. For now, fronts only. Gotta dig up the other ones we put away when they changed spec tires last year.

(that's a hint to someone here that was asking about tires... put half used actual race wheels on your ride and she'll stick like nobody's business. Really, you can get them for free... find a track and hang out asking for used tires... there's piles of em and people will give them to you for free. Hey, beats buying them new... 50 bucks each)

Lol! I agree, but if you wanna stick... and say there's an exhibition race at the end of the season (meaning... Sarge VS the fastest 4 Cycle racer out there) I wanna have any edge I can and stick to the track. I have the speed, cornering... well, there's a huge difference between street racing and the real track. Sarge has a slight bit of ackerman and it will "kick" the rear end so we'll see what happens.

(for those readers that don't know what I mean, "KICK" is when the steering geometry forces the frame to flex causing the inside wheel of the rear end off the ground allowing you to stick quite well in a corner. A solid axle, when both wheels are stuck to the ground will cause it to fight itself and spin you out usually. Get that inside tire off the ground and you'll fly... as a side note.. A lot of times, it's the lack of "kick" that causes loss of steering in most solid axle fun karts I see here. Meaning, they just like to go straight.)

As for the ballooning look here, there's 30lbs in them to seat them to the rims... when running, it's down to probably 9 or 10 psi. These things are like glue and pressure is everything with them. That, and there's not supposed to be tubes in them either... but there is.

Gotta have options... and it's fun to have all the accessories!

Just wait for my next weird addition to Sarge.

Here's the thread for mine. Already started stripping it. So far, got the back end and the wheels completely stripped.

I'm planning on doing everything flat black and flat red. Wheels flat red, body flat black with 2 narrow red stripes going down the middle.

The seat is going to be red vinyl, memory foam back .

The current tires I have now are 13x6-6's. But from what I can tell, the rims are the exact same you have on Sarge.

I think they are. I may just have to spraypaint the logo on the side of some lawn slicks.

Digging through old photos and found one I thought I'd share. No real reason, just being my normal show-off self.

Update: part 1.

Pretty serious racing day yesterday and took Sarge out for my free time.

1st pic, my daughter (11) roaring along as usual and in a bump draft move, gets pushed into the lead in heat 2 by her buddy (#9) for quite the race.

Then, it was lunch time, and time for a stroll back to the place I took the photos years back. So, some updated pics of sarge as is.

The last pic is cruising into the pits from some great driving on all the empty courses... and no brakes. Lost the nut in the drum brake lever somewhere. LOL!

Update: part 2.

Back home, the clean up from racing and a day of yard work. When done, it was back to just misc work.

Up this day, wheels wheels wheels... hubs, tires... blah!

Oh well, sarge has an arsenal of tires.

Now I have another mess... all these other rims & hubs I've collected over the years. Guess we'll clean them up & see what becomes of it.

Oh yes... there are some additions to Sarge that will happen soon.
1. Brake Cooler (she'll be needing that soon... I got into it pretty heavy at the track)
2. A strip down & repaint... maybe.

You're probably right. Just keep it a WIP and continue on.

Just a brief thought before fall & winter hits: I think... I'm going to make something for this I've never attempted.

Front Ice skates... and rear ice rims/tires. Roads around here just get iced over and are pretty smooth in the winter... hm.... Thrift stores, used ice skates and some ingenuity...

Wonder what'll happen.

Anyone ever seen it done? Help me out here!

Could you just run a bunch of sheet metal screws through the tire tread for traction?
Then maybe caulk the inside screw heads and run inner tubes?

Good idea to start. I'm looking to get some flex in the rear tires so probably something through the rubber for sure covered by something to protect the tube. Of course, they'll be skinny as it gets as wide tires do nothing in the snow or ice.

The front might consist of dual skate blades with some small rubber bushings to allow a slight cushion... dunno yet.
