Close! It could be the picture angle that's deceiving, but that's Tecumseh H50. The shroud up top matched the angle of the front hood, plus the visible fins seemed to compliment the front grille.

I'm pretty happy wid it. :stir:

update

Continuing on...

I've never been a huge fan of the Tri Star wheels. Yes they roll, yes they work, but the design just isn't my thing.

... but I have a beat up vintage pair on the back of this ride...

So what do ya do about it?

Take 2 large aluminum discs (or GIANT washers), drill 6 holes in them and...

Custom (almost hubcap like) thingies.

Now this is just a mock up, but I'll do it this week then post pics.

Enjoy, have a good day.

With winter in full swing, I figured I'd better get off my but & do something while indoors.

With the spare room I had in my laundry room (which is just a door out to the carport where I keep my rides in a cage) I decided to make up a little mini indoor shop of sorts so I could at least do something.

A few pics. 1st pic, my mini shop where I'm playing with motors for my kartrods in the spring.

2nd pic, the Tecumseh H50 I'm building up for the ride called Brown Thunder. (you can laugh, it's ok)

3rd, a new sprocket carrier for my blue ride named Urban Defiance

4. The inner wheel half after a bit of an issue this fall with Urban Defiance. I found it when changing the sprocket carrier. (note to all... Some Manco wheels ain't that tough)

and 5, the evil fire breathing Honda GX200 I've whipped together for the green ride as seen earlier.

Enjoy & have a good new year.

LOL, let's see.

My daughter is moving up a class and with the new kart she has, that freed up a GX200... which was mine when I took a podium 3rd place but won't be needed any more for racing and it's got a year or two on it.. so...

In the simplest terms:
1. Higher compression piston
2. Honda GX160 Head (instant horsepower & compression)
3. Heavier valve springs, valved lash set (don't remember the setting, I'd have to look at what I wrote down)
4. Advanced timing key/billet flywheel
5. Better connecting rod
6. Stock carb but jetted up a bit... probably go to a mikuni 22mm shortly
7. 3 stage pipe
8. AEN (the superior Air filter, plus it looks cool, used it when racing my KT100... machine washable too... LOL)

It hit 7000 rpm and I shut it down.

More soon, when it's attached to Bonneville. (wedge)

yes, I'll be wearing full gear to run this one.

Another update, continuing on...

After a bunch of thinking and numerous weird events, I've decided to name this one The Bonneville Legend. Don't ask why just yet... we'll find out why this one is named as such soon enough.

Anyway, upon waking this morning I went into my little mini-shop to measure the air filter cup on the Tecumseh because I'm goin to find some gnarley air filter for it today. To my surprise, my wife had placed something on my bench that came from ebay... HA HA! A nifty brake disc for 1" axles! Sweet! I love surprises. Happy birthday to me.

We'll get it mounted up & look for some kind of caliper shortly.

And... this one is getting a tecumseh too. Seen here in an ebay score.

Yup, a sweet score. Motor for this kart rod... and them nifty and rare Hands Wheels for my vintage ride. A good score.

3 Pics. 1, the sprocket carrier on (installed in 9 fricken degree weather), the brake disc and the ebay score with the motor that this one will get. The Tecumseh just looks right on this ride, period.

That Honda will be used for a crazy speed run on.... yes, you guessed it... the Bonneville Salt Flats this spring (that's not why it's named that though) where we'll throw on a 20 up front and a 52 in the back and push start it. LOL

Continuing on...

While the other three sit waiting for this & that, I started on a 4th Kart Rod this past weekend.

Day 1:

Sitting out in the back 40 is this frame that I got a while back. It's got a certain something to it so I decided to whip up my 4th ride.

I don't know what I'll call it yet, I don't know what it'll end up looking like... but after small bit of cutting on my deck... in the snow... and like 10 degrees, it's sitting in my dining room like this... yes, my dining room.

It's got the same wheelbase as 2 of my other rides and the same width... but a very different stance for some reason.

After cutting, reverse the steering hoop & slam it down... Hm...

Once agian, nothing but spare stuff here... and the briggs ha a place to go now.

Day 2... continuing on.

Ya know, I figured welding would bring some warmth in something like 10 degrees, but nope. A few hours later, she's slammed down (a total height of 2 feet), steering hoop & steering all forward & tucked down, a little seat back & some nifty side thingies to hold my *** in...

Motor: Briggs 206 and oddly enough, the older Tecumseh Air filter assemblies bolt right on. A little trimming here, some AWESOME school bus yellow paint... and here it is at this point in time.

Normally, I'd build these things with a vision in mind, what it would look like in the end... but this time I didn't. I made a runner, then we'll add some funky body parts. I'm thinking old cafe / bullet bike front end, chopped a bit and something neat for the *** end of this thing.

More soon!

Thanks for looking!

A few pics, as it was, after slamming it & welding & some killer paint... then a mock up with the poorly photoshopped bike fairing and a rear wheel thrown in...LOL

More at my place if anyone's interested. kartrods.com

Thanks, I appreciate it.

For those not following, here's all four of my creations.

I'll probably do 2 more, one being the cop car to chase em down, then something else. LOL

6 is enough right?

As with every project I do, this one was put on the back burner for one reason... writers block (artistic block really), but today while waiting for the plumber to finish up some work, I sat on the floor watching my daughter make bracelets. She just happened to be into it today. While watching, I went for the laundry / storage room and grabbed a few things. Some tin snips... an unused domed cat litter box cover, then sat back down & watched her. All the while, trying to hash it out in my mind just what to do here.

Yes, a litter box cover. The cat won't piss with it on the base, OCD, go figure.

I've been going round & round on what exactly to do here and nothing worked...

As I cut it and tried to shape something that would work, nothing came to me. A cafe racer fairing (as was this cover) was too big, it looked retarded and stupid... and unusable.

Frustrated with the whole plumbing disaster in my house, I just sat & held a piece here, moved a piece there... nothing was working. This was too big, feet wouldn't fit there, ick.

Computer mock ups are great, but in reality it becomes a different story.

Then my daughter picks up a cut piece, a sort of horseshoe shaped piece of scrap and holds it in just the right position... and what do I think?

Mailbox. That'd be the right shape and thrift stores have them. Yup.

Now, I didn't have a mailbox handy (don't figure many people do) so I go for the laundry room looking for something to mock up with this new idea.

And out I come with a laundry detergent bucket / pail.

I wonder.

Cut this, trim that... and this bucket turns into what looks like a pig nose on it.

"piggy kart" says my daughter... and I'm rolling. The bucket had two notches and it really did look like a pigs nose. Good idea, but we'll see.

I've been trying to figure out just how to make this thing all "snub nosed" and have just the right stance for the frame it's all built on.

Some duct tape to mock up the trim on it and lights... and we have a front piece in place, now the motor didn't work for it. It's wrong.

Back to the carport... snag the tecumseh. The boxy look of what I came up with just needed this... and Brown Thunder could use any motor really.

Some quick spray pant here, duct tape to mock up the front grille, spin the muffler straight up.. BAM!... LOL

Thanks to my offspring, here is what I came up with. I think I'll call her Bessie.

(note, I wrote this message a week back and there is an update: a mailbox isn't right, still searching for the right "THING" to use for the front piece...

Now I need some flashlights.

Eat your heart out tractor folks!

MUA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, me too... but its not working here just yet, so I go on with other ideas. So far, any fairing is just too big with no place to put your feet. If a real one is used, it just looks too big and retarded, too small looks like something else I did... It's got to all fit in place just right.

... but never fear, our hero will come through. Just takes time for it all to fall into place.

Its an artistic thing... and I have 3 other frames here. The cafe look will emerge one way or another, probably in the form of a jet fighter type of thing... Maybe an A10 or bomber type if thing. I dunno yet.

Then again... there's always this thing. Perhaps I'll make a mini cafe racer thing out of it. Never know what I'll do... until I do it.
