Tried to bend/roll a door panel last night.... Did t work so well.... Anybody got a good idea or trick to bending the radius I need , without a roller or metal brake ? Any ideas would be appreciated....
Just ordered my sprockets. Hope they're here by Saturday. I might be able to put-put down the street by next weekend.....

We I got one door panel bent up correctly and cry into place... I also put the new engine in , lined it up and tacked the front mounts so it won't move. Sprockets won't be here until Tuesday , so I might pull the back out again and start welding sections that are only welded on one edge. Basic frame is done so completely welding it now won't warp it or throw it off square.
I NEED to bring it to work this weekend so I can cut out one of the diagonal braces is off center by 1/4"... That don't sound like much or anything, but it will prevent my left door panel from sitting flat like the right one is... I think you can see it in one of the pics... If not , I'll snap a pic later tonight and show ya.....
I'm tempted to start up the new engine.... 😁😁😬😬😁😁 I want to hear my karts first heart beat....😉

Hi @firemanjim, Cool project car !

The rolled interior panel looks good. Did you bend it around a piece of 2" pipe or something similar?

@GEGCORP2012 no, I bent it by hand using angle iron to start the bend. Then I just kept working it by hand until it fit correctly. It's not perfect, but close enough for me. One of these days I will invest in proper tools to make this work easier, but fir now, it's all by hand....☹️
Sitting here looking at the kart and bearings ..... I need set the jack shaft up about 1" higher than the rear frame rail. I have some 1/8" angle iron I'm thinking about using. Would you consider 1/"8" being strong enough? It would have 1 piece on each side of the frame , acting like a pedestal riser.... I don't really think the torque from the engine would bend it or pull it forward (towards engine) but then again, I don't want to have to do this twice. I could go buy some 1/4" angle iron, but I only need about 6" of it and really don't want to buy a 4' section.... What do you guys think ?

Laid out the wiring again so I can start the cut n splice surgery .... I noticed 3 of the plugs had the wires in reverse order of the mating plug. Had to unpin them and fix it.... Pretty sad since 2 of the plugs plugged into the other parts that came with it. ...
Still haven't figured out exactly how I'm going to mount the jack shaft yet.... But in trying to figure that out , I realized I kinda goofed with the sprockets I ordered... I'm geared for 182 mph top speed in 4th and a final drive ratio of 9.75:1 in first..... Gonna have to order more stuff now..... Can't set up the jackshaft until I get the right sprockets....
I'll just focus on the wiring tomorrow.....(later today)

Made a battery tray , battery fit nice..... Tacked in in place, and can't put battery in unless I take body off.... No can do at the moment.... Battery install can wait.
Got my new 9 tooth sprocket in as well as some new chain. I did not order enough chain..... Here we go again... Ordered more chain. Should be here by Friday.
Jackshaft looking pretty good. Just need to weld it in now , as it's just tacked in place too ....😁
Gonna eat dinner or a snack , then start on the welding in the shifter ....
It's finally coming together...... New cables will be here soon. Ordered a wiring kit with the same plugs as in these engines, so I can make my own harness with better wire. It will last longer as these Chinese harnesses only last a year or so , depending on how much you ride...
I have the rods I need for the shifter linkage. I need to machine 2 pivot cups out of Mylar to use as bushings for the crossbar ends. The crossbar is the bar with the two tabs welded to it , about 30° apart, or 60° off the first tabs centerline.....
Well, hopefully will post more pics tonight of the shifter in place. Kinda bummed out about the chain being short..... ☹️ I used to have 10 feet of nickel plated chain that would have been perfect for this, but I have it to my son....😑
Till later ......

Well , shifter mount is welded in, and shifter handle bolted in. Moves flawlessly thanks to the double ball bearings.... 😁 Going to cut it off at the yellow line and weld in a 3/8"-18 bolt with the threads sticking out.
Then I'll drill and tap the ball end for the handle. I made that aluminum piece about 3 years ago, fir this project. FINALLY getting to use it...
I think I'm done for the next few days , or at least until the next wave of parts comes in....😁 Ordered LED high /low beam mini head lights. They come in Wednesday! Gonna order the 3/4" LED running/brake lights Friday. I'll worry about blinkers later on....
Till next time.....

My machine has been tied up lately with long jobs, so sliding in time to make my own parts sometimes delays my work...☹️ First pic , sometimes you go backwards to go forwards....:mad2:
I machined 2 bearing cups today . These are for the crossbar for the shift linkage set up. I have a couple pieces I made a few years ago for a different kart I could have used , but figured why not go new , since I was already cutting small pieces.... These will get welded to a plate and that gets bolted to the frame .
The silver looking barrel is gonna be my throttle pedal. A roller pedal like we used to use in dune buggies and such. It's made out of 6160 aluminum .
More to come...... More to come....

Got the clutch pedal done. Brake pedal just needs the tubes cut to length and then welding. Gonna pick up some more flat stock tomorrow and cut up the pieces for the throttle pedal.
Kinda getting ahead of myself..... Hope this works out right.... 🤔

These are the bearing cups welded up. Just need to clean em, drill the bolt holes, then paint em....
These are for the shifter linkage. They hold the crossbar..

do you have pn for headlights? Looking good

Yes , for headlight's , I'm using some LED flood/spot combo lights . Gonna arc a chrome plated 7/8" steel tube between the front fenders , mounting kinda low. The lights need to be no less than 18" from the ground, iirc . The wires will be hidden inside the tube and go into the body through the fenderwell. Any electric items connect to the body , will have quick disconnect plugs fir easy removal , if I need to work on the chassis later on.

I've been working 70+ hours a week lately and no time for my toys. I did manage to finish up my brake, clutch , and roller throttle pedals..... I'm hoping to get this weekend off to get something done. I'm so close to be able to take a ride it's freaking KILLING me.....☹️
Till next time .....
