Thanks for the support!

I decided to run with the 5hp briggs. This one is pretty stock, just new factory replacement valves, piston & rings, gaskets, eyebrows shaved and slight porting.

I deleted the governor , Bolted on the tillston that was too big for the 3hp build.
Then I fabed up the exhaust manifold and cleaned up an old can muffler.
The 3/4 npt threads were stripped and one of the 1/4 20 bolts broke off in the motor, I was able to weld another bolt to the broken bolt and got it out.
Plus the manifold kicks the muffler away from the carb.

I have a genuine comet 30 series that will be cleaned up mated to it.

This motor does not have the 4 mounting holes for a TAV2 unit, so I will make a separate jackshaft.

I would have used the 3hp but its looked soo small in the frame I could not do it.

More to come!

The shaft was not tapped in the end, So I drilled and tapped it for 5/16 coarse, Because that was the Tap I had.

One of the two springs in the driver is bad, so I need to find a replacement for that.

Also, I am missing the piece the spring slides in and is held on by a c-clip on the driven . See the pic.

So I have some parts to hunt down.

Well I could not find just the piece I needed so I would need a whole new driven , so
$30 driven
$12 belt
$15 spring set
$10 sprocket
Total $67

For $62 I got the whole tav2 kit from ebay, made alot more sense, I can save the back plate for something else.

Also found a NOS raptor rod with nylon dipper for $10 on ebay.

Waiting on the tc, but I mounted the motor, and made a gas tank. I took a 3hp briggs tank and blocked off the carb holes, and tapped a hose barb in. The carb has a fuel pump built in. I deleted the choke, and it still starts first pull cold, Tillotsons are awesome. I scavenged a thumb throttle and hand grips. Getting there.
