Wife recorded the ride Christmas(I had forgotten she got a new camera/smart phone)... so I made up this lil vid... it doesnt show much in terms of the TC exploding off of Lo-T... but it shows the pulley rolling cross the ground....
Dang man, good thing the pulley rolled off into the grass instead of down the road. It think you would've had some damage if it had rolled down the street... especially if it hit that mailbox or something.

Glad the new toy is still okay.

Well... today I replaced the fuel filter and noticed a small leak from my float bowl... gonna reclean everything (carb) and finally open up the block(too curious as to 'what' I actually am running in there!). Gonna check the inside and out... see if there are any other bugs that need working out... gonna detail it and make look new again.

Started another thread/post on the questions that have arisen.

Looks good. Now you just need a header. Well, you don't need it... but to get the most out of that intake you do.

Jetting the carb too, like you said. With those few little mods, that thing should scream.

Have fun!

OK... today I decided to brave the cold(20degrees), just to get this motor correct. I took it to the shop n started into it, first I ported the jet to .035... next I fabricated the header w/ silencer/tone tube.

Got it all together... it started on the first pull... and it runs like a champ now... w/ a throaty roar from the muffler when goosed. I finally got around to swappin the gears round on the JShaft... so I should be traveling 50mph next run:wai:. I will more than likely, NOT go that fast... but itll be nice to know the extra speed is there when needed/wanted, instead of being limited to a 'fixed' top speed:thumbsup:,.

What Im wondering is... will the TC handle the new extra HP that doing this process, has provided. I know w/ cent clutches they rate a 3/4" clutch at 8hp(due to the shaft size), when they can handle more. But not sure on a TC/CVT...

It got too dark for pix/vids... so thatll be tomorrow, possibly w/ a drive run or 2(depending on rain/cold).

Actually I 'did' need a header...after I ported the jet, I attempted to run the motor w/ a factory muffler(for kicks n giggles)... it spit n sputtered, n just wouldnt run right(WAY rich as well). After I put the header on it, everything ran perfectly!

I greatly appreciate the form of the info given! No bold-faced font w/ bright coloring(good thing Im not epileptic). You, amongst afew others, seem to KNOW, how, to refer information. So I thank you(and all that teach/inform instead of chastise/criticize)... I 'bow' to you.

Your engine looks awesome. You are going to have to get a vid of it on the next test run

If you think it looks good in the pics... oughta see it now! Factory muffler gone and now a header replaces it. The bends make it so the muffler is pointing up n back at an angle(like a baha rail car) and set above the spark plug(almost at the same angle as the plug). The sound... OMG...DEFINITELY dont sound like a lawn mower anymore, thats forsure!... pix n vid tomorrow!!!

tadda...

To get an honest reproduction in sound, PLZ listen on a home computer... or headset... phone/pad speakers dont do this justice.

Half-breeder - I love what you've done with that Kart! I just got one on Monday very similar and my 10 yr old son and I have been pulling it apart, cleaning, sanding, and getting it ready to paint. I know "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors... large rear wheels on his Go Kart", but I can't help it. What is the size of your rear tires? I'm sure I'll need to get a bigger sprocket too, suggestions? I'll be running an old B&S 5 hp.

Not too sure what you mean by simular to mine... Mine started off a 2 seater childs toy. If you plan on undertaking the same route I did... Hope you got lots of time n resorces. I know youll need access to a good welder, cutting wheel, lathe, location for decent CL finds, and a 'bent' sense of common sense(refering to going 55mph in a modded yard kart). If you lack any of those things, youll be dishin out alil more $ to get it done. Ive spent round 500$ to get the 'toy' outta her... in a year, n in the midst of this karts build, I was able to build my daughters kart w/ leftovers(im a CL part shopper... E.I.-...buyin a rolling frame... just for the rims...30$. End up using everything..."will use").
Gearing is a personal preference(IMO). W/ a cent clutch Id travel bout 22-25 mph w/ a 7.5:1 ratio(using a JShaft). Tires alone youll drop 40-50$ each(turf saver) but they last alot longer than the 10" wheels!
If you start the build, start a new thread/post of your own(for documentation), n I chime in my .02¢ on recommendations... gonna need alot more details/pics/vids, if MY expeariences will be of any use to you.

... and WELCOME to the forum! Rules of thumb here... Fill out profile fully... post pics(minimum) on threads you OP... NO reposts... Use edit button instaed of multiposting in a brief amount of time... n remember children have been known to read on this forum(clean talk... PG-13).

... Great minds... Cept I was thinking silver(aluminum), n the red band. I got the high temp silver... may powder coat the red band though... Along w/ the OHV cover. Im still deciding if I wanna use the HF212 OHV cover instead(for visuality purposes).

Im wanting to have the motor stand out alil more than the bench seat I had made... But 'still' not lookin to have it the 'focal-point' of the kart. Im lookin for a reaction like... "Thats a cool kart... and that looks like a fast motor...!" if i blend the motor in, too much(majority black), then the detail wont b as eye grabbing. Dark colors conceal/outline... neutral colors(grey/silver) flow-blend... N most all the primary n secondary colors will highlight(but must be surrounded/outlined). Yes Im an artist... of sorts...

Today I was checking my top speed by GPS(50mph) when suddenly my motor started sounding... hiccupish. I got back to the house and did a once over of the motor and found that the idle jet screw was setting kinda crooked(sorry no pics). So I touched it and it fell off onto the ground. It didnt look like a 'screw'... just a head. So i checked in the hole... sure enough... broke off in there... sigh. I called up my local mower place n ordered the part(5-7 days). So I took that as a sign, that it was/is time to detail everything... again!

I went out n got afew misc items that I have had 'Jerry rigged', n a few to purdy up things. Got a 3ft section of braided hose(to cover the fuel line that Im setting above the JS mount). Finally got an 'actual' license plate bracket. A chain guard will be made from an exhaust coupler wrap plate. Gonna break the motor down(finally again) n paint parts. Gotta Honda emblem off an old civic in a junkyard... I cut the box off around the emblem, leaving just the 'H', n thatll go in the middle of the pull cord shield cover(where the Honda GX200 sticker was).

Next week Ill be ordering the differential axle from NTool along w/ locking wheel hubs :wai:... I have a feeling Im gonna need to move the new axle back(again) to mount it, which will make the scrub brakes pointless to keep mounted. Thinking of bypassing the non-TC JS n mounting the axle under it... that way Ill be able to drop the TC/CVT down to the side(instead of pointing up like it does now), and Ill have a 'flatter/cleaner' top(only thing sticking up/out is exhaust header).

... to be continued!
