In need of IDEAS FOR FRONT WHEEL DRIVE SEt UP

Hey GUYS, I am thinking about making both Front wheel and Rear Drive, Yes I know it has been done, just wondering if Any of you guys have tried to design one yet, or have any drawing/engerining programs. I have access to a full machine shop and 20+ years of experice in custom parts, so lets make this a common thing and change Go Karting. All replies welcome, and Who knows how much faster, better drifts, and off roading we could do in the future.

Not much different from a car/truck besides it should be live axle, no diff. Shaft drive is nice but I can imagine a common drive chain running both axles

I plan on 2 engines one for each drive axle

The back just make live axle and for the front make it live axle as well but on the ends u have to make it swivel as u gotta turn. U could run two engines or run one and have a sprocket on each axle and link both axles with a chain.

why don't you buy a cheap 4x4 four wheeler that doesn't run and use parts from that ? that would probably make it a lot less difficult to figure out I would think...

do what they do in rc cars and like its been said. chain links axles together. and use 1/2" u-joints like you use on your ratcet wrench

Thats what i was thinking and I found out that Tractor Supply Stores sell all of that stuff, the U joints and all, so I dont think it will really be too hard just not sure if 2 engines would be better, or what size for 8 hp 12 hp to run both axles?

u could run two engines but have them run both axles. Just like u would set it up for one engine but double the torque and power instead. XD

Why dont you just go live axle in the back with either some nice slicks for traction that you'll never even spin or go for some nice mudding tires if your in the mud and even then never get stuck?

That'd be alot of fabrication,- with Mechanic and Machinist history- You can't really use a live axle setup for the front, Youd never be able to steer.
best bet, find a donor 4x4 quad, hack it up, most likely lenghten the drive shafts, plus 100 other mods. and u have a 4x4 gokart.

Someone on the 4Cycle Karting website posted their race kart, which had a live front axle and a modified clone on each end. I tried to find it the other day, but searching yielded no results. I think it may have been the person who runs AGK.
