Microsquirt is a good option for a small boost aware EFI system.

$330 for the ECU+8' harness
$270 for the module.

I'm guessing it gets tuned with MegaSquirt software and a laptop.

very pricey.
I definitely will not be going through with all of this. Still an interesting piece of knowledge though.

If the engine, microsquirt hardware, and all the forged goodies were just laying there for me to use Then I would do it.

The software is free. Msefi.com will answer any questions you might have about it. It will work with a single motorcycle throttle body and fuel injector if you want it to. I believe it can even control the timing. All you'd need is the microsquirt, and a short harness and the individual components to make it work on a go kart. DIYautotune.com is where I got all of my megasquirt stuff.
As long as you keep it dry, a megasquirt 1 would handle all your fuel injection needs on a go kart and be much cheaper.
