That is what I got, that is like what I was first thinking of doing but it looks like I will only be driving that in my yard or the road, the feild is bumby so from those images in the link above I know they would not work in my feild, and my yard is not that big. It seems with a manco style go kart I could get the best of both worlds, off road and on road right?

That engine is 6.5HP. You do get bigger ones from Harbour Freight, but their output shafts will more than likely be 1" diameter, which means a MUCH more expensive clutch

As for speed, you should be able to get up to a decent lick. It all depends on how you gear it. Gearing all hinges on the clutch tooth clount and the axle sprocket tooth count. The diameter of your tyres also play a factor.

I have a Manco with smaller tires, not the big off road tires, and with a 3hp briggs it went 28.85mph. Now almost all the engines will have the same RPM output so the thing to look at is gett ing a bigger engine and gearing the cart to the engine. I'm using the same gearing from the 3hp and with the Harbour Freight 6.5hp motor she'll just spin the tires, about the same top speed because the gearing is the same and because of the engines only putting out so many RPM's

Suspension adds a whole new dimension to your kart. If you have the right tools, and it sounds like you do, you can certainly add suspension. As far as the back, a simple swingarm set-up, might be the way to go. I've added a kart for you to consider, mainly because you can buy plans which will make your build easier. Almost. A dingo style kart may still have problems in a bumpy field. For that type of terrain, you're best off with something with suspension but, if that's what you want then go for it

Ok well, I want something like ATLEAST 60mph I would get bored with 30mph after awhile. So...what should I get so I can for sure hit 60?

So with you have the same top speed but your acceleration/take off is alot quicker with more HP?

Ok so what about that red and black kart in the one attached picture above, that would be off road right? I would still be able to race it up and down the street if I wanted to right? If I can only get a kart like the red and black one in the picture above to only go 35mph I will would much rather build something that can for sure go 60mph.

I would but I am not sure what kind of frame I want still. I would rather go 60mph and only be able to go on the road rather than only 30mph and be able to go off road. If I can I think I would like 60mph off road capable.

This weekend me and my dad are going to look around at go karts and his friend has two of them so maybe i will even get a chance to try them out.

Don't kid yourself. 30MPH is pretty quick when your butt is practically dragging on the ground. It seems much faster than it is. If you're offroading or running trails, I really don't think boredom is going to be a factor...

that would be fun! (but of course I would never take a kart out on the streets like that)

So with 1,000 dollars what is my best bet to get as close to as one of the one's above? Here is my list from what I would want, but if it would be going over 1,000 then scratch it off.
1. A manco type go kart with two seats 60mph. (if it does not have suspension then I don't care I can always make a dirt track if I want to go off road with it)

Yes, but if I had like a small sprint car track, would I be able to turn it sidways at 30mph? When I think of off roading I am thinking about spinning tires and drifting, on road I am thinking flying through the windy bendy roads. (lots of windy roads where i live, most of it is surrounded by woods but my feild is where the woods stop)

IMHO, 60mph on a bitumen is super quick, 60mph offroad is suicide. As toystory pointed out, 30mph feels like 60 when your butt is inches from the ground.

Have a read of this, then ask the OP how fast it goes & if he would want it to go 60mph offroad

Ok, but my gas pedal would control how fast it goes, on or off road. I would be mad if I just spent the whole time down the road full throttle and me just sitting there after a month being bored of it, I am sure it would even take me awhile for me to hit 60mph on the road but even if I don't go over 40mph I would like to know the extra power is there when I get more balls and get bored with 40mph. That is how I see it but I guess i will come back and talk after I get to drive a go kart this weekend.
