That does not sound right.
You might have to start over with a new axle assemble.
I know that's what I would do.

I wouldent be able to put a sproket on it?

I'm learning now that its always easier to start off fresh than deal with some body else's hack job.

If you can find a split sprocket, it will have to match up to the holes already drilled in the center flange (the disc thingy). Or you will drill new holes to fit it. The holes will have to be spaced perfectly around the center line of the axle, or you will have a bad wobble and it won't work right.
