Good morning y'all. I've got an old EZ-Go golf cart that was given to me long ago, with no motor and pretty rusted-out battery box. I keep looking at the extra Predator 212 I've got sitting on the floor of my tool shed and finally went poking around on the internet and found that some were putting those in electric golf carts.

Closest thing to a forum that discusses the mechanics of that appears to be this one. I mean, the drive train doesn't care what it's mounted on, right? ;)

I'm not looking for speed or immense amounts of power, but rock-solid dependability. I don't intend to punish or beat this thing up, but I'd like it to be able to haul a bucket of tools and a piece of fence wire....stuff like that....maybe a whitetail come fall....

I'll be haunting build threads etc. and if it looks like there's interest in seeing mine, I'll post with pics.

You better post pictures, we love pictures! I used to be an E-Z GO authorized used kart dealer. I had a deal with the factory I could go to any factory owned dealership and buy karts at cost. New or used. At the time there were only 7 of us in the country. It was an experimental deal. I was the last one out of the program after 12 years when I closed up shop. No more dealers were ever signed up. What you want to do is very possible. You could even add a FNR box if you don’t beat on it.

That part's the only thing ordered so far LOL. It was a hangup in that the only place I have to stash it out of the weather will require backing it uphill to get it out of its hidey-hole. Found a decently-priced reversing gearbox with good reviews and snagged one.

I've got to walk out and get some befores of it where it's been sitting since early '21, before I drag it up near the shop and start playing with it.

Its drivetrain is a good part of the propulsion in this paddleboat. I know the motor is the one seen between the paddles. Friend of mine built the thing and I took parts and controllers and so forth and made it go and stop and reverse. The boat is primarily powered by the passengers; it has bicycle seats for bar stools, complete with pedals and chains and a lineshaft running the length of the bar with the coaster brake and back sprocket on the shaft. Neat setup. I got the old golf buggy as part of my 'reward' for going over to his place and having fun.

I do like to take lots of pics of my squirrel-chasing in the shop. But half the time I forget to. I'll post what I do get pics of!

Vegas carts is an outfit in Florida that sells everything to put a predator into a golf kart, from motor mounts to wiring...check out their website

My '92 Ez-Go has a unique splined shaft coming out of the diff. I found just one vendor who sells a coupler that fits. Still no pics. When I walked out to lock up the chickens I circled out to the barn (where stuff is stored, I don't spend my time out there working on stuff--that happens in the shop building I built in the yard right near the house) I didn't think to take my phone, plus it was getting dark. But I did see that the splined shaft where the 36v motor used to mount has what looks like a threaded 1/2 or 5/8 inch nose on it. At least in the nearly-dark it looked threaded. Whatever it is, it looks like I could tack a sprocket or at least a hub onto it with some precision as far as getting it straight. I'm 20 miles from a retiree haven community with a huge golf cart boneyard, so I can procure a spare for probably scrap prices if I screw that up.

I'm still waiting on the torque converter to show up from Amazon, and after that I'm about $150 or so away from having what I can't scrounge. (In redneck-engineering math, that converts to a couple or three hundred, right? :LOL::ROFLMAO:

At any rate, I'll get pics in the morning when I take the tractor down there and bring the critter up to the shop.

Mods, veterans to the forum, a question: Where should I start a thread about this remake? It's not a go-kart, per se, but it is gonna be sorta kinda similar. Is there a golf buggy conversion section I'm missing?
